NASHVILLE — Until the Nashville Predators began targeting Quinn Hughes like bulls target matadors, the only time the defenceman was on the floor in Music City was at Luke Schenn’s house last October.

 

With the Vancouver Canucks in town early for their game against the Predators, the ex-Canuck Schenn invited Hughes and Tyler Myers over for dinner. As the “kid” of the group, Hughes played mini-sticks hockey in the evening with Schenn’s young sons, Kingston and Weston.

 

“They both cried when they had to go to bed,” Hughes, 24, said Saturday, smiling at the recollection.

 

“They wanted to keep playing. That's the cool thing for a young guy like me; I get to see what it's like having young kids growing up watching their father play.”

Schenn is still a Canuck at heart....

He has been really calm and relaxed during the series... If it hadn't been Canucks, he would have gone to war... Once a Canuck, always a Canuck.

Schenn's a likeable dude, his stop in Tampa really was a career renaissance of sorts for him. He went from scrambling to stay in the league to winning two cups, to another stint in Vancouver, and finally some well deserved stability in Nashville.

The fact he hasn't dropped the gloves to give his team a boost facing elimination (yet) says it all.   And yes so far he's not laying the body quite as hard as he can

Too bad management didn’t choose Schenn over Cole. Both are great reliable defensemen
