Calgary Flames winger Andrei Kuzmenkohas changed agencies, now represented by Newport Sports. The swap was first reported by former Sportsnet reporter Irfaan Gaffar, and seconded by Ryan Pike of Flames Nation (Twitter link). Kuzmenko will now be represented by the same management company as Robert Thomas, Vasily Podkolzin, and Tomas Hertl. He leaves Gold Star Agency, where he was notoriously represented by Daniel Milstein, who served a role in Kuzmenko’s swap from the Vancouver Canucks to the Flames. Kuzmenko found a strong scoring groove in Calgary, netting 25 points in 24 games, and should be poised for a top role next season.

Maybe don't practice in Bali?

Might want out of CGY and better relationship with Newport elsewhere

There was no way he was staying. His half-hearted trying to be defensively responsible. But he also wasn't scoring. Maybe not Mik bad.

His 20+% shooting percentage from last year wasn't sustainable either. All the team wanted was him to come halfway.

They didn't need hitting. What they needed was dig the puck out of the boards, and battle for puck possession. Funny thing is, winning puck battles would have helped defensively, but help set up more goals going the other way. Just get in the way of shots, steal the puck off the other guys stick.

Kuz likes wide open hockey. It's probably best for him to go to Calgary. I like him as a person, and he has skill. He just wasn't a fit once Bruce was gone.

Exactly! Cruise Control isn’t exactly the kind of player teammates want to go into battle with.
He’s perfectly suited for a rebuilding club that is not interested in winning and will play fun hockey for the fans to watch. He’s cute and charismatic. He puts up points in pond hockey meaningless games where the club’s management desires high draft picks. However when a club is wanting to win, there is no spot for the way he insists on playing.
I’m thinking Cruise Control wants a long term deal this summer and he believes the new agency can get him that. Good luck.

Looking for a place where he can score goals and not have to backcheck and play defense

I believe they call that The KHL!

I'm sure he'd be welcomed back with open arms!
