Popular Post RWJC Posted May 30, 2024 Popular Post Posted May 30, 2024 Snapshots: Myers, Necas, Buyalsky, Yeo May 29th, 2024 at 9:00pm CST • By Brian La Rose Defenseman Tyler Myers is one of Vancouver’s many notable pending unrestricted free agents but that might not be the case for much longer. In the latest 32 Thoughts podcast (audio link), Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman noted that there is optimism that the Canucks will be able to work something out with the blueliner. Myers has spent the last five seasons in Vancouver after inking a $30MM deal with them back in 2019. He struggled in a prominent role but found some traction in more limited minutes this season, notching 29 points in 77 games along with 136 blocks and 110 hits in just under 19 minutes a night. It’s safe to say that a new agreement for the 34-year-old won’t reach the $6MM mark but half that on a multi-year deal could be double. https://www.prohockeyrumors.com/2024/05/snapshots-myers-necas-buyalsky-yeo.html#ref=home 2 4 Quote

Popular Post DrJockitch Posted May 30, 2024 Popular Post Posted May 30, 2024 Wouldn’t go more than 2. We paid for a lot of very mediocre years before this. Don’t trust Contract Giraffe 1 2 3 1 5 Quote

Mike Vanderhoek Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 I would have thought Myers would earn no less than $4m per on a new deal. Tip of the cap to management and the player if a new deal is in the 3's per. 1 2 Quote
Popular Post Junkyard Dog Posted May 30, 2024 Popular Post Posted May 30, 2024 2x3M. Just so posters here can have flashbacks when the see 6M contract on the headlines. Probably would startle folks. "Myers signs 6M dollar contract with the Canucks" Would be a funny troll job. 1 10 Quote
gwarrior Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 I would go as high as 2.8 or 3, and a 2 or 3 year deal. 3 Quote
Chickenspear Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 (edited) Give him $2m x 3, he owes us a discount from his chaotic years. Edit: PSA, this was meant to be tongue in cheek. Edited May 30, 2024 by Chickenspear 2 1 1 Quote
Elias Pettersson Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 I think we get him at 3x3. I'm totally fine with that. Myers is still a great skater so should have no problem playing another 3 years at a high level, plus we don't really have a replacement for him on the right side. 2 1 1 Quote

I think he'll take less than market value for term that will get him to retirement.......or close to it, so I think that's probably the term, but at $3m Edited May 30, 2024 by stawns 1 Quote

RWJC Posted May 30, 2024 Author Posted May 30, 2024 Tyler Myers Agent: Talks Encouraging, But Canucks Have “Other Priorities” Dave Litman Wednesday, May 29, 2024 Vancouver Canucks The Vancouver Canucks have some important business to take care of this offseason, with a number of big names hitting the free agent market. One of the "biggest", at least from a physical standpoint, is 6'8" defenseman Tyler Myers. His 5-year, $30 million contract is up, but despite reports of real optimism that something gets done, his agent knows that he isn't the team's top priority at this point. Myers' agent, JP Barry, spoke with Canucks insiders Rick Dhaliwal and Don Taylor on Wednesday. There are contract talks ongoing, but "the team needs to get together and have a plan," says Barry. "I don't think we're first in line, so we'll have to see what happens here." Myers, with a house in Kelowna, doesn't want to go anywhere, and he and Barry spoke to the Canucks even before the end of the season about his desire to re-up with the team. He loves the city and the coaching staff. The big right-shot d-man had a nice season in Vancouver, despite playing a couple of minutes less per game than in previous seasons. He notched 29 points and a career-best plus/minus rating of +16. He handed out 110 hits and blocked 136 shots. With 11 free agents from among those players who participated in the playoffs, those other "priorities" that Barry spoke of include pending UFAs Elias Lindholm and Dakota Joshua at forward, Nikita Zadorov and Ian Cole on defense, along with some pretty important RFAs like d-man Filip Hronek and goaltender Arturs Silovs. https://www.nhltraderumors.me/2024/05/tyler-myers-agent-talks-encouraging-but.html 1 Quote

RolexSub Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 2.7Mx3 would be a decent deal for both sides due to his age as well. He is no spring chicken anymore Quote
D.B Cooper Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 3x3 for Myers is good by me. Personally, I’m a chaos giraffe fan. Big hits. A much needed older ‘dad’ like vet who is well liked in the dressing room. Very well spoken. Chaos makes games interesting. 1 1 1 Quote
Rounoush Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Would prefer 2 - 2.5 but if it is 3, that is fine too. Quote

If we can get the War Giraffe extended with a new 3x3 contract, I would give a toast to PA the next time I take a drink. Myers had a resurgent season and he really came and battled in the playoffs. 1 1 Quote
