[Proposal] Ok Here We Go! This is the One Proposal to Rule Them All! Built for the Playoffs!

Recommended Posts

Pass on signing Myers and, Forbort. Lybushkin might cost less and likely can provide same as Myers without the same amount of terrible mistakes he makes. Good Riddance to him, let him sign in Seattle or Alberta. BUT, IF we could get Cernak that would be amazing!

I doubt Tampa considers moving him they would let Stamkos walk, Cernak is their top RHD and signed for under 6m.

You would think that of Cernak... but surprisingly, Dumba was the guy that played the most minutes ATOI this season.  Cernak also only played 6 seconds more ATOI than Raddysh all year.  We know Perbix is a solid bottom pair RHD.

TBL just went out and acquired McDonagh.  It looks like they're going back to what worked for them in the past... 3 strong LHD and complimentary RHD.

3 team trade:

Hronek to Ana

Gibson to NJD

NJD #10 OA to Van

We sign all our important FA's and bring back Tanev to play in our top 4 plus we get back a 1st rounder this year to use as PA sees fit.

Just spitballing....

Yes to the first and third trades but not really into getting Jeannot.  If they're really selling low on Cernak due to not having cap space I don't think we let them reload that much by recouping 3 assets all located or drafted in the first couple rounds (they'll probably recoup Klimovich to have value as a scorer in their system).

That's actually a decent trade value wise although think NJ gets something else from ANA in the deal.   Not sure we should be trading Hronek though, and almost zero guarantee's we get Tanev so risky on our part.

There are lots of options. Though. Demelo would be a great fit. The list of rhd free agents this year is long.

There is a dozen or so guys that can play that 4-5th man.    Like Cole did for us, and Myers is on it.

Know cap is going up, there are also a lot of teams over or in cap hell, and a lot of teams with some flexibility,  with RFAs due for their next deal.    Would be great if we could find this years "Soucy" as in a legit journeyman NHLer, with some upside, that won't cost the farm.    Trades can work out as well.

Allvin will likely have to be one of, if not the busiest GM again, starting at the draft right up until next years TDL.    Like JB was after the bubble, he's in a tricky situation, who to keep, who to try and work out, and what team (Schmidt) is cap strapped and will take a medium pick (3-4th) for a legit player upfront or on defense to fill some of the holes.    Thank god it's Allvin behind the wheel.

Love this proposal

Great job

I trust JR and PA and co to get creative and improve our roster going into next season

And I agree that we could probably take advantage of teams like TB, MIN, NYI, NYR, VGK, and so on to get some good players for cheap on short term deals because of their cap situation.

It's great going into the season with cap flexibility... it gives more options and you never know what the options will be what if a team that we don't think is a trade candidate has a deal lined up for sign Guentzel or Reinhart or Montour and all the sudden the canucks can take advantage

I say we protect our cap as much as possible and not commit to anyone unless it makes total sense for more than 3 years (Hughes contract)

TRADE 1

To VAN:

Scott Laughton

Nic Deslauriers

1st Round Pick (FLA)

To PHI:

Filip Hronek

Flyers need defensive help.  They had to run with Sanheim and York as their top pairing this year (both LHD) due to Ristolainen's injury and Drysdale's inexperience.  Adding Hronek would lock down their D core with Sanheim-Hronek, York-Ristolainen, Seeler-Drysdale as their pairings.

Canucks acquire grit, and LOTS of it.  A 3C in Laughton and a bruising enforcer in Deslauriers for the 4th line.  We grab that 1st round pick to flip to TBL (see below).

TRADE 2

To VAN

Erik Cernak

Tanner Jeannot

To TBL:

2024 1st Round Pick (FLA)

2025 2nd Round Pick (VAN)

Danila Klimovich

Cap strapped TBL needs cap space to re-sign Stamkos.  We take 100% of the cap hits from Cernak and Jeannot while flipping them a 1st, 2nd, and a B-Prospect in return.

TRADE 3

To VAN

William Karlsson

To VGK

3rd Round Pick

Aidan Mcdonough

Cap strapped VGK needs to find cap space to re-sign Marchessault and Stephenson.  Karlsson is a casualty the same way Reilly Smith was a year ago.  PIT acquired Smith for a 3rd round pick.  We give up the same and a bit more to acquire Karlsson.

Mcdonough can probably take some of the bottom 6 minutes VGK will have available with the likely departure of Amadio and Carrier.

Overall

In:  Cernak, Karlsson, Laughton, Deslauriers, Jeannot,

Out:  Hronek, 2nd Round Pick, 3rd Round Pick, Klimovich, McDonough

This is how you build value folks.  Buy low from cap strapped teams.

Signings

Ilya Lyubushkin - $3M AAV

Derek Forbort - $3M AAV

Tyler Myers - $3M AAV

Teddy Blueger - $2M AAV

Built for the playoffs.  Here is your 2024/25 Canucks Line-Up:

Suter-Miller-Boeser

Hoglander-Pettersson-Karlsson

Jeannot-Laughton-Garland

Podkolzin-Blueger-Deslauriers

Hughes-Cernak

Soucy-Myers

Forbort-Lyubushkin
