RWJC Posted June 6 Posted June 6 NHL Trade Rumors: Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen Linked To Metro Division Team James Wilson Thursday, June 06, 2024 Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, entering restricted free agency, has emerged as a potential prime target for the New Jersey Devils, who are eager to bolster their goaltending roster, according to Lyle Fitzsimmons of Bleacher Report. The 25-year-old netminder, drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in 2017, showcased his potential with stellar performances in the latter half of the 2023-24 season. From January onward, Luukkonen posted a remarkable .919 save percentage and a 2.31 goals-against average over his final 36 starts, placing him among the top goaltenders in the league. These impressive performances have made him an attractive option for teams seeking a reliable presence between the pipes. The Devils, with ample cap space and a pressing need for a stable goaltender, view Luukkonen as an ideal candidate to strengthen their lineup. Speculations suggest that New Jersey could offer a five-year deal worth around $26 million to secure his services, as noted by Fitzsimmons. This potential move aligns with the Devils' strategy to build a competitive team around a solid core of young players. Given Buffalo's depth in young goaltending talent, including Devon Levi, the Sabres might be open to negotiations, making Luukkonen's switch to New Jersey a plausible scenario for the upcoming season. https://www.nhltraderumors.me/2024/06/nhl-trade-rumors-ukko-pekka-luukkonen.html Quote
Alflives Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Another poor choice by the Devils. Only a matter of time before Jack and Luke demand out. Quote
MeanSeanBean Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Sounds like Buffalo is feeling pretty confident in Levi, good sign for the GFL Minnesota Wild Fantasy team (hit me or @Gatorup if you're interested in joining an in depth fantasy league) 1 Quote
Don Brodka Jr Posted June 6 Posted June 6 He's too big! He was such a fantastic Junior player, at times he looked like a man playing amongst boys but I'm adamant! he's too big. You can get that guy going side to side all day and he's not fast enough to get across. Very Similar to that Giant Ghoul Anders Nilsson that was hanging around this team a few years back.. Quote
Herberts Vasiljevs Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Super goalie! I needed to trade him in my GFL league cause I was likely gonna be priced out... Budding #1 goalie. Quote
