flickyoursedin
Seems like 10 plus teams are reported to be interested in all Lindholm, Zadorov and Joshua! We’ve made offers that have been turned down and may be over the price management wants to spend on these specific players. Last offseason Columbus traded a 3rd for the rights to Damon Severson! We’re light on draft capital so Lindholm’s rights for a 3rd, Zadarov rights for a 4th and Dakota Joshua’s rights for a 4th. Could use this extra draft capital to get rid of Mikheyev as well. 1

A very good idea for Lindholm and probably Joshua as we likely can’t retain them. Zads I think they want to find a way so I wouldn’t personally. really all depends on what the players have told them expectation wise and if the Canucks think they could still find a way. but a very smart, strategic suggestion. Alvin needs to decide if he’s going to let certain players walk and if so move their rights. Seems like that’s a given on Lindholm so he at a minimum should have his rights moved. good idea! Phil_314
Might as well, and agreed that we should use the return to move Mikheyev. Nearly $29 million is lots of space and if the UFAs change their mind they can always sign back on, since UFA rights are only so valuable before July 1. To Boston Lindholm (rights) Mikheyev 5th round pick To Vancouver 6th round pick Cap space 1

It just seems, unless a club is 99% certain they will sign the player there’s no advantage to trading for their rights.

That makes sense for the player and both teams .

Carolina won't be signing JG, so that means every other team is looking at a 7 year deal, which is good for everyone but Carolina. If we did trade for him it means we are going for 8 to keep the aav down. Which could be something he's open to and good for our current window. Even if you trade for him you're limited to a 7 year deal. The player has to be on the roster by the trade deadline in order to qualify for an 8 year deal. So unless it's a sign and trade, it's going to be a 7 year deal max
