Trade#1:

Vancouver gets:

5th round pick (2024)

Montreal gets:

Connor Garland

Chicago gets:

Ilya Mikheyev

2nd pick ( Colordo from Montreal)

Reason: 3 way trade; purpose is to create cap space. Montreal adds forward to their group who can help score. Chicago takes cap dump for 2nd.

Trade#2:

Vancouver gets:

1st pick 2025

2nd pick 2025

Utah gets:

Rights to Hronek

Reason: Hronek maybe asking too much.  I do believe we could get the 1st and 2nd back to add to our prospects. Utah gets a top 4 RHD who fits their age group.

RFA SIGNINGS:

Arturs Silovs  2 years @ $1,250,000

RE-SIGNINGS:

Tyler Myers 2 years @ $3,100,000

I don't see Montréal having any interest in Garland. They're looking for high end pieces. Not middle 6 guys. Plus they already have their quota on undersize players.  Garland is fine but he'd fill the same role as one of thier young guys (Roy, RHP,Farrell, ect...)

@qwijjibo I just picked Montreal as a team. Ideally any team that will take Garland at full cap hit was the plan. Use that 2nd to dump mikeyev's contract.

Just saying he's not really a fit for Montreal.  I get the concept you're going fir, but it's gotta work for every team involved

Garland goes to Montreal for a 2nd. That 2nd is used to move Mikheyev.

Yup, I was thinking that after his season and playoffs, he's at least a 2nd. His contract is better than people think. His production isn't always the best, but he's a player who can change the entire flow of a game with one shift. That's rare.

There is probably a team out there that sees Garland as a 1st line or top 6  player. His trade value will never be higher.

I guarantee there's not a tesm in the league that would seek Garland out with the intention of him being a top line player. Middle 6 sure, top line? Not a chance

I wouldn't go that far. Every team values players differently and how they may fit their roster. Did anyone anticipate Alex Burrows as a 1st line player? No, but on the 2011 team ( an excellent team)  he was. I'm not saying Garland is Burrows  and I certainly don't think he's a top 6 fit on this team. But, another team may view him differently. Now is the time to find out

Garland could easily be a missing piece on a top line. By himself, no he's not a top line winger. He could be a complimentary piece.

No gm is looking at a 20 goal 40 point winger as the solution on thier top line.  He may fill in occasionally but using Garkand as your top line winger is like going out for a classy dinner and choosing Dennys.

A 20 goal scorer averaging 14-15 mins.  Teams for the most part are going with pairs. Garland is great on fore-check and an excellent complimentary piece.

Tbh I do consider him more of a middle 6, with the ability to move up.  With that being said, I could see a team trading a 2nd for him. 2 years left, under $5million.

Very exciting offseason with this amount of cap space.

Good core and a lot of cap space to support them. Great time to be a canuck.

Sign Hronek / Zadorov plus one UFA like Tanev or Dillon and the Defence is set.

Sign Blueger plus Trade Mikheyev. Sign Guentzel or another top 6 winger plus some cheaper depth players then Joshua will be after this season.

They can build a contender for years if they use this cap space for the right players.

They can be creative and get some guys who fit very well to the "new" Canucks system.

The future looks bright

Demko

Silovs

Hughes UFA

Zadorov Hronek

Soucy Myers

Juulsen

Guentzel Pettersson Hoglander

Suter Miller Boeser

Garland Blueger Podkolzin

Di Giuseppe Aman UFA or Player like Bains

For sure we are trying to move off Garland’s cap. And there will be a GM of a bottom feeder club who sees Garland as a top line guy because they don’t have much yet.
Caufield is used by the Haberdoodles as a top line winger. He’s a very similar player to Garland who gets opportunity because he’s on a bottom feeder team.
