PunjabiCanucks23 Posted June 16 Posted June 16 (edited) My line up for next year based on signed players: ___ Petey ___ Hoglander Miller Boeser Podkolzin ___ Garland PDG Suter Aman Hughes ____ _____ Soucy _____ _____ Juulsen In no fashion can I see Mikheyev and his cap returning next year (4.75M) - either we dump it with a pick or move it for a big contract in possibly Laine- (and no I do not want Laine) ----- Canucks also need to sign 3 to 4 defenseman to be a part of the opening line up. I like Juulsen but would it not be nice to have him as a #7. -- Canucks also have rookies such as Lekkey , Petey 2.0, and Willander who would benefit from a year in the AHL unless someone impresses in training camp/ offseason. Based on current UFAs there is no chance of landing Stamkos and Reinhart- theyre staying with their teams. There is the chance of Guentzel based on the Alvin connection 1) Guentzel at 6 years x 8.5 M - by this time Guenztel will be winding down and his play will start dropping off. But this is fair term for a player averaging a PPG with the likes of Crosby 2) Canucks trade Mikheyev and a 2024 4th pick to San Jose for Zetterlund (20g scorer on a poor SJS team- and a pending RFA the next year) 3) Acquiring a 3C- either we can look at Blueger returning which means we dont upgrade our team - or we look at Monahan or Stephenson - Monahan comes in near 4m vs Stephenson probably seeking 6M, Lindholm is out of budget/ already traveling to the east coast / Boston Bruins I'd consider signing Monahan to a 4 year contract at 4M 4) Canucks sign Hronek for a 7 year x 6.5M contract- this is the max amount he is worth - yes he was worth more in the first half of the season but he was invisible after the all star break and playoffs - if he is not willing to sign an extension more than 2 years - trade for a high draft pick in the coming years or look to get a forward or depth dman in return. 5) Zadarov most likely walks unless he considers staying under 5.5M at 5 year term. Personally feel based on his regular season he should get < 5M. (Yes, his stock rose in the playoffs) 6) Myers the guy we all wanted gone but actually played good for 1 year takes a team friendly deal at 2 years x 2M 7) Acquiring a Ghost -Gostisbehere - he would be an amazing PP2 candidate especially if Hronek does get moved. He can play along side the likes of Soucy balancing out that pairing. sign at 5M x 4 years 8 ) Tanev- there is no doubt he is a beast and fan favorite, but his age makes him a risky acquisition. Canucks resign Tanev for 3 years x 5 M. 9) I like Joshua but he most likely moves on as he would get over 3.5 to 4M. 10) If Blueger wants to stay it has to be under 1.2M --- Guentzel Petey Zetterlund - 21.55M Hoglander Miller Boeser - 15.75M Podkolzin Monahan Garland - 9.95M PDG Blueger Suter - 3.58M Extras: Aman Hughes Tanev - 12.85M Ghost Soucy - 8.25M Myers Zadarov - 7.5m Extras: Petey 2.0 - Juulsen Demko 5M Silovs 1.2M OEL recapture- 2.35M Canucks acquire a 1st round pick for Hronek in 2025 most likely (unless a deal is done at the trade deadline) Total COST $87.98M - we make it under $88M -- Now this is just me going off at midnight- wonder what your guys opinion is on Mikheyev leaving for Zetterlund and the signings of Ghost and Tanev. Podkolzin may not be ready for a starting job but based on cap restraints its his chance to get it done. Hopefully the cap goes up further the year after as Boeser, Hoglander and Podkolzin, Zetterlund would be due for a raise of sorts. Edited June 16 by PunjabiCanucks23 Quote
Phil_314 Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Seeing Zetterlund in there, I doubt he'll go for that price. 4th + Mikheyev should probably be viewed as his sweetening price with no return, not to get a top 6 young forward. Quote
