Michael Scott Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 TRADE #1:(not sure if it's realisitic) Vancouver gets: Patrick Laine ( $2 million retained) David Jiricek Columbus gets: Rights to Hronek Conor Garland Ilya Mikheyev 1st round (2026) Reason: Laine wants a fresh start. With $million retained and only 2 years left, it's a gamble that I'd take. Jiricek is not happy with ice time so maybe he'd like a fresh start. Hronek at the moment is the better dman over Jiricek. Hronek has proven he can move the puck and put up 35+ points. Garland is on a good contract for 2 years. Columbus has difficulties recruiting players. Mikeyev is a cap dump but may be of use to the Bluejackets. In return, we send a 1st round pick in 2026. Trading rights: Lindholm + Joshua + Zadorov. Any pick is helpful. Even if it's 3x 7th round picks. Those picks can be packaged at the draft to move up. RFA Signings: Arturs Silovs 2 years @$1,250,000 Re-Signings: Teddy Blueger 2 years @$2,175,000 Tyler Myers 2 years @$3,100,000 UFA Signings: Brenden Dillon 2 years @$2,800,000 Dylan Demelo 4 years@$5,300,000 Kevin Stenlund 2 years @$1,300,000 Danton Heinen 3 years @$2,800,000 Brandon Duhaime 3 years @$1,800,000 Steven Stamkos 3 years @$7,000,000 Robert Bortuzzo 1 year @$800,000 Travis Boyd 1 year @$1,000,000 Roster Size: 25 Cap hit: $87,715,000 Cap space: $285,000 Stamkos Pettersson Laine Heinen Miller Boeser Höglander Blueger Podkolzin Suter Stenlund Duhaime Hughes Demelo Soucy Myers Dillon Jiricek Demko Silovs Extras: Di Giuseppe + Åman + Boyd + Bortuzzo + Juulsen There is an additional $1,500,000 in cap space if Åman and Juulsen were moved down to the minors in order to get down to a roster of 23. fuzzy Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 The first trade looks interesting. It would net 10+ mil in cap space which could be used to resign Zadorov and/or Lindholm. Demelo, Heinen, and Stenlund would be interesting additions. Quote
Jim Tim Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 I would pull the trigger immediately on that CBJ trade but there's no way they're giving up Jiricek, it would take way more than that. Quote
Phil_314 Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 Interesting valuations in the trade -- if Jiricek doesn't want to be in Columbus and he's tethered to move Laine, that should be a worthwhile investment to recoup 29's value while adding a replacement top-4 potential RD. Garland + Mikheyev (cap dump) + 1st for Laine would probably be fair so selling two middle-6 guys for a potential top line scorer and selling high on Hronek to get Jiricek makes for a smart investment. 1 Quote
ArmchairGM22 Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 I doubt Stamkos is going anywhere. Unless someone is stupid and throws more and term at him. Duhaime I like I'd like to see us take a run at Warren Foegle depending on cap space and his expectations as he's a ufa. Fast, big and physical. I don't know if we could pry Jiricek out of CLB without giving up Willander but if we can with Hronek (with an extension) no brainer 1 Quote
Pears Posted June 17, 2024 Posted June 17, 2024 I had a similar proposal for Jiricek and Laine too and if I'm not mistaken, Jiricek's relationship with Columbus has soured pretty quickly too. I think there could be something there. 1 Quote

If they did that trade, Columbus would also get Hronek. Werenski Severson Provorov Hronek That's a good top 4. 1 Quote
IBatch Posted June 17, 2024 Posted June 17, 2024 (edited) Laine's got some issues no doubt. A reclamation project, even at his cap hit down to 6.7, it's a risk. Not sure Tochett is going to be a fan. If Kuzmenko couldn't be coached into playing defense and engaging physically, not sure we should expect Laine to do the same, and one thing that frustrates the heck out of me, is watching players like Motte and Bluegar and Garland playing with big motors, and big guys (Taylor Pyatt), not using their size much at all. Guys got the physical gifts to be a monster power forward. Not his game though, he's a shooter and an opportunistic (Toffoli) type. Jireck would be a great add. As for those UFA's. Good luck with that. Players have to really want to play in Vancouver to take a tax discount like those numbers. Myers and Bluegar are the only ones that are realistic. And Myers likely wants another year for that cap hit. Personally would rather sign Lindholm than have Laine. Or go after Guentzal. Hronek, what would he net us on the trade market all on his own. That's another element. UFA's what's the upside for them signing at 53% and change tax bracket verus 36.5-41%, that the majority of the US market provides? Stamkos won't enjoy that much. Does he like Vancouver? Maybe he'd take a deal like that in TO, as a Leaf's fan growing up. He'd make more taking 5.9 in TB. Edit: Not as big a fan as Toffoli as some are, but i'd bet even money, he'd provide about the same offense as Laine will over the next couple years. We could sign him...6 x 3 is what his overpayment is predicted to look like. It's a puzzle. That's an interesting proposal. Too bad it's not that simple. Edited June 17, 2024 by IBatch Quote

Willander and our first maybe. Depends what they want to do. They've got some of their D-corp's locked in long term. And Johnny Hockey. You'd think they'd want to accelerate things either way. Laine is a busteroo. At his cap hit. Too much fortnite not enough gym. IF Tochett could get through to him, and add forechecking and backchecking to his game .. well that's a big big if. A minus magnet green jacket type. At this stage of the game, what you see is what you get. Quote
