6of1_halfdozenofother Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Can it learn to speak? If so, the first words it should learn would be "go Canucks go" followed closely by "refs you suck!" 2 1 Quote

I have one Blue Jay that squawks at my window in the early morning if the tray is empty. he is quite tame as I can approach within 4 ft. of him without him flying away. 1 1 Quote

RWMc1 Posted June 25 Posted June 25 I used to train wild birds to land on my hand. mostly chickadees. First I would put crushed peanuts on the railing of the deck and sit a few yards away. They would eventually come and start eating the nuts. I would then move a little closer day by day. Once they got used to me being close I would put my hand a little closer to the peanuts day by day. After they got used to that I would put some of the peanuts on my hand and they would eventually come over and take a few pieces. Once they got used to that I would put all the peanuts on my hand and my hand would still be motionless on the railing. They would then eat off of my hand. Once they started climbing onto my hand I would hold my hand a little higher off of the railing day by day. They got so used to it that I could put my hand through the sliding glass door and they would come land on it to eat. It was pretty cool. 1 Quote
