Michael Scott Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 (edited) 3 way trade: Vancouver gets: Pavel Buchnevich ($2.5millon retained) Chicago gets: Connor Garland Ilya Mikheyev 3rd pick 2024 St. Louis gets: Nils Hoglander Connor Murphy Akita Hirose Reason: For Vancouver: they get out of mikeyev and find a top winger for Pettersson. For Chicago: while losing Murphy isn't something they would like, there are a lot of RHD Free agents for them to sign. Plus are able to trade Garland and Mikeyev after the following season for picks to help their rebuild For St.Louis: Buchnevich was available at trade deadline but the price was high. While they aren't getting the reported 2 first picks, they get a young 20 goal scorer on a cheap contract. A RHD that has 2 years left that could be flipped. Plus they would receive a young defenseman in Hirose who I don't think has a spot on the Canucks. RFA Signings: Arturs Silovs 2 years @$1,200,000 Re-signings: Teddy Blueger 2 years @$2,150,000 UFA Signings: Sean Walker 3 years @$4,600,000 Matt Roy 5 years @$5,600,000 Danton Heinen 3 years @$2,800,000 Brandon Duhaime 3 years @$1,750,000 Jonathan Marchessault 3 years @$6,000,000 John Klingberg 1 year @$1,800,000 Roster: 23 skaters Cap hit: $87,471,667 Cap Space: 328,333 Buchnevich Pettersson Marchessault Heinen Miller Boeser Suter Blueger Podkolzin Duhaime Åman Karlsson Hughes Roy Walker Hronek Soucy Klingberg Demko Silovs Extra: Friedman + Juulsen + Di Giuseppe If the team is confident in juulsen playing the bottom pairing, the Canucks don't have to sign Klingberg. Move Karlsson to be an extra and that would leave the Canucks with roughly $2.1 to upgrade 3rd line. Edited June 23, 2024 by Michael Scott Quote
Jim Tim Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 (edited) First of all, Klingberg is horrible, we should want nothing to do with him. Second of all, I don't forgive Marchessault for his childish "shut the fuck lil dick" comments towards Canucks fans. Real locker room guy apparently. Third, a team with Danton Heinen on a scoring line isn't going far in the playoffs at all. Edited June 23, 2024 by Jim Tim Quote

Third, a team with Danton Heinen on a scoring line isn't going far in the playoffs at all. Klingberg had a bad year. For 1 year, he's worth the gamble. He's not defense first, hence why he was paired with Soucy. If not, there are other options in that range such as Hakanpää. Heinen isn't the scorer on that line. Boeser and Miller are the scorers. He's the "puck retriever"/ physical presence. He is still good for 20 goals. Comparing gum to Joshua: Joshua: 63 games; 18 goals; 14 assists. Heinen: 74 games; 17 goals; 19 assists Difference: The salary between the two if the wings offer of $4million + is true. Need to replace him. As for Marchessault, I don't mind what he said to the fans. No different than canuck fans going after oilers fan. It's part of the sports. As for locker room, I don't know anything about that. But with our leadership/coaching staff, I don't think we would need to worry about that. Quote

Maybe it would be better to say maybe 2025 first + hirose + Murphy. Than flip Höglander for a young player. Maybe jets would offer Rutger McGroarty (doubt it) since Höglander is young, cheap and can help them now. Quote
IBatch Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 (edited) Why in the world would CHI accept this deal? A 3rd rounder to bung up more then it would cost to sign Guentzel (doubt he'd pick CHI, but that's what your asking of them). They could do so much better in free agency OR weaponizing that cap space for their rebuild. One year of Marleau cost a first. The opportunity costs are very high doing this. Cap will still be king next season with 500 RFA and UFA's looking for contracts. What they could do with close to 10 in cap space going into next season's TDL. Even just as a third party team retaining, a monster pile of picks, and won't screw up their own cap doing it. Or they could spend it strategically. As for Klingberg, zero chance. He's not getting PP time behind QHs and Hronek. We are much better off with Myers, which says all we need to about the player. Dillon. Better options. His value has tanked. Maybe he can find a team that needs a second PP guy. Not a reclamation project for us. We will just get scored on more. Rather we play Juulsen. Klingberg is a defensive back hole, and you aren't adding any EV points either. Edited June 23, 2024 by IBatch Quote
