Cousins is a pretty dirty player, which Bieksa disapproved of in a segment showing all these hits that are blindsides or other dangerous plays.

He can be, but teams are willing to put up with the cons for the pros. Florida players put up over a thousand hits this past playoffs for example, over 250 hits more than Edmonton did in the same number of games. Cousins had 130 hits in 69 regular season games, not bad; only played 12 playoff games but probably brought more of the same. There was a Bennett article about it the other day, sometimes having that edge helps, assuming your PK can bail you out.

Ottawa's gonna have some wrecking balls between Tkachuk, Zub, Greig, and Cousins.

Rielly had better keep his head up when the Send play Toronto.

I get the feeling he'd probably be fine, Leafs hit quite a bit as a team last season but their roster isn't exactly physically intimidating

I would say that him signing a 1 year deal, for 800k, in damn near September, with a piss poor team says otherwise.

Dunno, perhaps. He's a fourth liner, no bones about it, but he was also a regular for a top team in Florida. 69 and 79 games played over the past couple seasons.

My guess is he misplayed his hand and has had to settle for his lowest payday ever after teams have already fleshed their rosters out, he was probably asking for too much after winning a cup. Perhaps if he'd been more receptive to the market earlier on he'd be earning more, Sens may have gotten him cheaper because of it.

He deserved every punch he ate from Guddy. Gutless puke.

erik gudbranson is the type of guy where you can afford to look past some warts in his play because of the other things he brings.

always liked him.

I think he’s just a player you’d rather not play against - I don’t think anyone wants him on their team.

except for Ottawa.

He'd also fit right in with the Oilers where being a disgrace to the sport is a requirement.

That's why Ottawa signed him. He's going to the Coilers at the trade deadline 😂

A prime example of the refs not getting a call right.   Gudbranson could have been injured, Cousins should have left the game.
