Not bad looking at all, it'll be interesting to see what they eventually settle on regarding their actual name and jersey designs

I am a skier.

Utah means some of the lightest, driest snow on this planet - Snowbird - to me.

The Utah Powder Hounds.

Seriously, looking forward myself to name they choose.

I believe with their additions this summer, the progress some of their young players, a proper rink.

They could be pushing for a wildcard spot.

I hope it’s Blizzard and the jersey is a blank white one.

I hope the NHL screws Carolina like they did with Vancouver when Mr. Sweaty tried to push limits on contracts.

I'm betting they are doing nothing about it. But it would be interesting to see what they propose.

I bet the NHL institutes a cap penalty for the amount deferred. Technically, it's salary that they are paying in that year anyways, so it should count against the cap.

SPORTSNET: The NHL released several key dates for the 2024-25 season.

Oct. 1: NHL Board of Governors meeting (New York)

Oct. 4-5: NHL Global Series in Prague (Sabres vs. Devils)

Oct. 8: Opening night

Oct. 22: NHL Frozen Frenzy: All 32 teams in action

Nov. 1-2: NHL Global Series in Tampere, Finland (Stars vs. Panthers)

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The 4 Nations Face-Off pushes the playoff schedule later into the calendar. Expect the same thing for 2025-26 when the league shuts down for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

The league’s annual holiday roster freeze will be Dec. 20 to 27.

The dates for the 2025 Draft Lottery, the NHL Awards, and the NHL Draft will likely be announced at some point next year. The best guess for the Awards is June 26 with the draft being held on June 28-29. Free agency will begin as usual on July 1.

"The New Jersey Devils announced that defenseman Luke Hughes suffered a shoulder injury during training and will be unavailable for the team’s training camp and exhibition schedule. Even more importantly, he’s liable to miss the first month or six weeks of the team’s regular season schedule.

Patrick Roy- breaks a Lou Lamoriello rule- and provides evidence that Lou is a liar:

https://www.msn.com/en-ca/sports/nhl/patrick-roy-breaks-one-of-lou-lamoriello-s-important-rules-in-front-of-reporters/ar-AA1qIAmi?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=53a854f0e6594821a1c6ab0f1e429460&ei=7

"

Patrick Roy made a pretty big ‘whoopsie’ yesterday when meeting with the media.

The New York Islanders’ coach accidentally let slip that the team’s starting goaltender Ilya Sorokin had undergone back surgery this past offseason, after GM Lou Lamoriello had previously denied the fact. Lamoriello, who famously never lets any information leak to reporters, had stated earlier in the day that Sorokin merely had a minor hand injury and would miss only a few days of training camp. Roy, just hours later, contradicted that report and then was immediately shut down by the team’s PR department.

Here’s how it all played out courtesy of Ethan Sears of The New York Post:

And on Monday — after Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello had shut down speculation about Sorokin’s health by saying he suffered a minor injury during summer training and wouldn’t miss more than a few days of training camp — coach Patrick Roy inadvertently revealed that Sorokin had, in fact, undergone back surgery.

“So the surgery he had for his back, it’s not the perfect thing, but I do think he’ll be fine. I do believe we have such a good medical staff. They’ll take care of him. They’ll make sure when he’s ready, he’ll help us.”

After a follow-up question was cut off, Roy sheepishly said, “Oh, sorry.”

An Islanders spokesman quickly shut down follow-up questions relating to the operation and Sorokin’s agent, Dan Milstein, declined comment.

I can only imagine what was going through Lamoriello’s mind when he heard Roy speaking so freely. He was likely doing some sort of ‘Terminator-esque’ crunching of data in his mind to determine Roy’s ultimate fate.

Frankly though, I’m tired of Lamoriello and his stupid rules. The Islanders operate in the darkness and, as a result, I don’t see much engagement from their fanbase. The team’s fans experience a certain level of disconnection with the team because they literally cannot believe what is told to them. Call it what you will, but the Islanders actively lie to their fanbase all in an effort to gain a slight advantage on their opponents. It’s nonsense and I’m tired of acting like Lamoriello is some sort of evil genius. He’s not… he’s a dinosaur who refuses to adapt his strategy.

Give Roy the mic and let him speak directly to the people, as he has done his entire career. A career, by the way, that was unaffected by his penchant for blabbing. He knows what it takes to win and it doesn’t involve shaving your beard and wearing a three piece suit to breakfast.

I either get a goal and say I scored on a hall of famer

Or I don't and say how do you expect me to score on a hall of famer
