bh90 Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 Columbus could really use a player like Garland up front... Quote

gwarrior Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 Only 900k? If you're trying to get to the cap floor, why not what would actually get you too the floor? 1 Quote

It sounds like the league is heading towards pardoning them for being under the cap minimum this season. I doubt they would take Poolman for the sake of adding salary when they don't need to. 1 1 1 Quote

Phil_314 Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 Good for him I guess? With Johnny passing (RIP) the team's got an even bigger need for scoring up front and I'd be surprised they aren't all over whatever's left of the scorers to at least be relevant, because they were trying for the longest time to start winning and someone's gotta be good while the kids slowly develop. What do you by "I guess?" Why wouldn't this be good for JVR? He's been very productive in his limited roles these past few seasons. I was shocked he was still out there truthfully. Aside from the mental aspects of The Blue Jackets players losing a teammate I don't see the absence of Gaudreau effecting the Blue Jackets *On Ice Play* that much this season. I promise i'm not trying to be mean, reading that back it sounds douchy but Gaudreau was FAR from the player he was in Calgary.. If we're talking just Goals.. JVR who they just signed had 1 less goal than Gaudreau last season in 10 less games. Columbus still would've and still will finish bottom 5 in the league.. With or without Johnny.. They're just not that good! When you're banking on Jet Greaves & Elvis Merzlikins you're kinda shit out of luck from the jump! Quote

It depends if he would rather be a big fish in a dump, or being an effective (albeit depth) piece on a team that's more likely to win. Even for that price tag and likelihood of him being a deadline rental, I can't help but think that (if it was me) I'd rather be a 3rd line scorer/ 2nd PP guy on a better team than a possible big fish on a team like Columbus, since it also kind of speaks to your quality and perceived value as a player (end of summer, minimal signing to a bottom feeder). Of course getting signed is something to value nonetheless, but from an individual level it still would suck to be a veteran filler on a team about to have a throwaway year. Nonetheless, hope he makes the most of it. Edited September 17, 2024 by Phil_314 Quote

You were right about this one LOL haha u actually remembered that from ancient time.. i think i was bitchin and yapping about that signing way back coz there's literally no way there's team lining up to sign poolman to multi year contract with his concussion history... except benning.. no one wants to give u 2 years? how about 4? it's like he didn't learn his lesson with ferland haha.. i wonder if those guy have benning's nude somewhere and blackmailed him to sign these 4 years so they can collect the full amount via insurance.. star players sure maybe you take that risk.. fringe player? no thx 1 Quote
