Popular Post Honkin Hronek
Goalie gurus who follow the league really like this guy as a potential breakout candidate. There's some upside here for a high volume backup. I'm very impressed with Allvin+Co sticking it out and not buckling to the salary demands. 8 1

Lewlowned
Yeah that is a nice and cheap contract. What does this mean for our cap space? Puckpedia says we have $190,833 in space, without Lankinen's contract. Assuming Silovs goes down to the A again, will Demko be ready to start the season? Or how is that going to work? That or we can waive Aman or pdg down. 1

Lankinen's basically on league min, so Silovs would go down once Demko is healthy I'd assume. Shouldn't affect the cap. 1

Demko was Markstrom’s backup. This guy is the next great goalie who was behind a great goalie. And we got him for cheap! He might be the guy in nets when we win the Cup June 2025. He’s that good. 1

He would be an Ian Clarke pushed for guy. New management trusts their supporting staff. They trust Clarke.

Popular Post Hairy Kneel
I think he buys time for Demko to heal up, not to rush Demko. I'm thinking like an upgrade on DeSmith but cheaper and younger. A good solid back up for Silovs a nice 1-2 tandem that buys us time to watch Demko's health process. 2

Why’s everyone liking him? He was Saros’ backup the last few years and has some solid numbers (.916 two years ago and .908 last year), but was never going to get a real shot on the Predators once they signed Saros long term. In terms of why people like him, he’s very refined stylistically for someone who’s only gotten about 20 starts a year. His best attribute: if he can see the shot, he makes the save. Remember Silovs struggling with point shots in the playoffs? Well, Lankinen doesn’t have that issue because he’s big and aware enough to get his body in front of the puck from range. He gets beat most often when he’s moving a lot, but that’s every goalie that isn’t a superstar. He is legitimately the guy you want in net if you have a solid D core that doesn’t give up rush chances or cross-ice passes, and Tocchet’s system prioritizes being staunch defensively. This is a really underrated move. While he may not wow you with a two pad stack, he will stop the shots he needs to stop. This is one of those cases where the system and the goalie may be made for each other, and at this cap hit that’s what you want. Lankinen played something like 15 out of his 24 games last year against playoff teams (including a shutout against Florida during their win streak), so it’s not like he was sheltered. When Demko is healthy, Silovs goes to Abby. This new guy is really good. He will push Demko for the number 1 role. Steal of a deal.
