A proposed roster lineup for the Oilers to start the season that I just saw

Recommended Posts

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins -- Connor McDavid -- Zach Hyman

Jeff Skinner -- Leon Draisaitl -- Viktor Arvidsson

Mattias Janmark -- Adam Henrique -- Connor Brown

Vasily Podkolzin -- Derek Ryan -- Corey Perry

Mattias Ekholm -- Evan Bouchard

Darnell Nurse -- Ty Emberson

Brett Kulak -- Troy Stecher

Stuart Skinner

Calvin Pickard

I like Vancouver’s matchup to start the season and hopefully Lekkerimäki sticks!…if not maybe Sprong is in with Pettersson and Debrusk, aha!

But look out especially come this November…cause we have Joshua back!!

I do say we are in a battle to win the division again and we certainly still can again this year by sweeping the Coilers in the regular season!

Go ahead make your Canucks proposal line up suggestion and you’ll see we are pritty good competition!

A Nucks 4th line even with Hoglander/Suter/Sherwood looks better eh!

Gotta admit, that is a great forward lineup.

D is mediorce and Goalies are very suspect.

Not shook.

Only McDavid, Draisatl, and Podz are forwards under 30.  These guys are slowing down and will be more likely to have injuries.  Canucks only have 2 forwards over 30.  Miller 31, Bluegar 30.

There strength are really old.

Small, scoring, injury prone wingers who don't play any defense and are propped up by the greatest player of our generation, and we've been led to believe is a serious cup contender...lol ok. Bias aside, anyone willing to take the blinders off, should easily be able to see that outside of their two (powerplay) superstars we have a much deeper forward group than they do.

i dunno we laugh at oilers defence.. but ours is questionable too.. outside of hughes and hronek.. we are going to have a bunch of bottom pairing defenceman playing above their role in the 2nd pairing and hope 1 works out.. myers should be a 3rd pairing by now.. but he'll likely be 2nd pairing based on the depth chart.. forbot and desharnais is not ahead of him.. defensively we are for sure better.. but it's not even a slam dunk.. and as for goaltending?? well we are likely starting the season with silov and lankenin.. i think that's way worse than skinner with pickard.. oilers barely gave up shots last year hence their goalie appeared better than they really are in the regular season.. their top 6 is even better than last year.. so they might give up even less shots based on they'll prolly keep the puck in the O zone even more often.

depth wise vancouver is far superior.. but we dont have a player or 2 that can win the game by themselves like the oilers.. at least i haven't seen EP Hughes Miller single handedly drag his team to a win in the playoff yet.. well demko did but that was a long time ago in the bubble.

Defense would have been ok if Darnell Nurse was paid 3 to 4 million less per year. But then again that's part of the game, perhaps Canucks could have used  a 2.25 AAV OEL, like what Florida did. Point the D will be fine if Nurse can, at least, play like a $7 Million d-man or some entry level person can show up.

I am not very bullish on the goaltending Skinner has proven he can get the team to a Game 7 of the Finals and he's probably a strong candidate to represent Canada in the next Olympics.

According to the schedule we play the Oil 3 times during the regular season. Invest extra time now to prepare strategies and practice tactics to win those games and we should be fine.

I would focus on Bouchard and Draisaitl. If one or both of those players suffered an injury then their team becomes a different animal.

We started last year 12-3-1/15-8-1 with the current top 4 as it stands btw.
