VegasCanuck
We are in really good shape for cap space, why do we need to reduce depth?
DexM94
F Pius Suter *Extension* 1 year | $3,300,000 AAV LOL.
qwijjibo
Why would Montreal claim Brisbois? They already have too many waiver eligible Dmen. All of whom are younger and better than Brisbois. Let me guess. Because he's French?

fuzzy
Sorry, but I don't see anything but lateral moves moves that clean out our depth.

Because they traded Harris and Kovacevic and outside of Matheson, Savard and Barron; all the other D are actually NOT waiver eligible and are also not fully developed and ready (Ie. L.Hutson, Mailloux, Struble). Brisebois provides a little cheap depth and no not because he's French.. Because he already played a little bit for their AHL team a couple years ago and would be able to alleviate a little bit of pressure off of all their prospect D-men. Yes the player who is currently our 3rd line C and also plays well on the wing with Miller and Boeser. $3.3 Million for one more season. LOL........ So you'd rather sit with $90,000 dollars in cap space and lose more players for nothing in the next 1-2 years? Got it..

They traded those guys because they have too many NHL ready D. The last thing they need is a career AHL'er.

We are also building up a LOT of LTIR which can be utilized at the deadline.

LOL........ yeah. you want to pay 3.3M for the easiest replaceable guy on the roster, and a year when the MAXIMUM OEL's buyout kicks in. Sorry but in my books this is the last year of Suter and we replace him with Raty or any entry level guy.
BigTramFan
Obviously a lot of thought went into this. The main move that creates cap space is moving Poolman's contract. Of course, he can be placed in LTIR instead and this $2.5m of LTIR space is still useable by VAN. If we are moving his contract in order to accrue cap space prior to the TDL, then I think it is going to cost more than some fringe prospects and a 4th round pick. Probably closer to a 2nd round pick - the contract is rumoured to be uninsured - so it's a real $2.5m cost, not just cap space taken on by the acquiring team. The other main move proposed that affects our NHL roster is sending Juulsen out and replacing him with Hanley. My personal opinion is that Juulsen is much better than Hanley. I would stick with him and keep Friedman as our 7LD since he is comfortable playing both sides. Seeing Blais in the 1st preseason game made me think that he is no longer playing at NHL level, he has lost the speed to play at that level, so while Joshua is on IR I would prefer to see DiGiuseppe, Karlsson or Bains on the main roster.

I proposed trading Suter multiple times on here and got attacked for it so I figured let's propose signing him for just one more year lol..
