Popular Post AussieNuckFan
Hi All, First post, here apologies if it's in the wrong place. I'm an Aussie who became a Canucks fan in 2005 while spending a semester studying at UBC. I never made it to a game back then but did get to see the 'nucks beat the Blackhawks in OT in Chi in 2016! I'm back visiting Vancouver for the first time in 19 years with my wife and 7 mo son. Unfortunately we're not going to be around for the regular season but we have tickets to the last pre-season game against Oilers. We're all pretty excited (yes, including the 7 mo old)! Would love to get some suggestions from experienced locals on the best way to enjoy to the game? We'll have warm clothes and earmuffs for Bub. Anything else we need to consider brining? Also, tips on best way to get to the game (we're staying in North Vancouver) and family friendly places to eat/explore before the game? Thanks in advance! 4

Free for kids under 2, takes a couple hours to get through it.
Ghostsof1915
Enjoy the game! Sadly everything is expensive here. Science World is a great idea. If you can make it to Stanley Park, and it's not raining. Good to take the kiddo on a stroller and walk the sea wall. Even a short walk. I remember taking my Ex-gf from Ontario here years ago in June. I was shocked she didn't like Vancouver, she was ok with Vancouver Island. I knew then it wouldn't work out for us. 1

Welcome back - North Van to the rink will be a journey all by itself, unless you're staying near Lonsdale Quay, in which case public transit should be straight-forward enough. Hopefully the SeaBus won't be packed when you make the trip over. If you're renting a car... good luck, parking is going to cost you an arm and a leg, and traffic is horribadiculous. Things to do: if you have an extra day or so, check out the UBC and SFU campuses, they're very different from 20 years ago. North Van also has its own touristy stuff worth checking out - the suspension bridge, lookout points from the local ski hills, even the quay itself is a point of interest. If you have more than an extra day and you have a vehicle, you could consider going up Highway 99 and check out Squamish and Whistler as day-trips. I've heard the rink is awful for food and beverage costs, so best to feed your family before you go in (looks like you already have that considered). It'll save you the grief of lining up as well. I can't think of many family-friendly places as when I go to the game, I'm usually with my buddy and we have beers before the game, so if you asked for a pub recommendation I could give you a few. Enjoy the game!
6of1_halfdozenofother
Side note - I'm sure there are many others who are or were season ticket holders who can provide you with plenty of suggestions. @-dlc-, @SerenityNow, @WalkWithElias, and @Rypper_37 come to mind. One thing to keep in mind when you are deciding what to bring to the game is that arena staff limit the size of bag you can take inside. Copying from Rogers Arena website: Bags, including purses and backpacks, must not exceed 14” x 14” x 6” (35cm x 35cm x 15cm). Guests with bags larger than this will be required to return them to their vehicles or another secure area before entering.
WalkWithElias
There is cheap parking around the arena you can usually find
