We are deeply sorry to hear the news of Rip The Mesh's passing. He was a valued member of our community and, in my view, really filled a void left behind by Vintage as he backed away. RTM was always on top of things and we could count on him for the latest updates. Thank you to @48MPHSlapshot for letting us know of this tragic passing - we know how difficult this must be for you. Personally, it hit me hard and was shocking news. I'd noticed his absence over the past few days and had even checked in on his page to see what was up. I/we only hope that he left this earth in comfort and peace and that you @48MPHSlapshot know we're here to support you. Your Dad was a beloved member of our family here.

 

It's been suggested that we create this thread to show our love for those who've left us (far too soon for many).

 

I also felt the same way in learning about Bree. As a woman, I tend to gravitate toward other females here in a bit of a strength in numbers deal. It's always refreshing to meet other females who love hockey/sports as I do. I miss her contributions as a true blue Canuck fan. It's just weird when people are here and then...suddenly they're gone. I'm grateful to their family members for being so thoughtful to let us in through the deeply personal sharing of their loved one's death(s). Much respect for taking time to do that during your time of sorrow and pain.

 

And Shaky (Walton) was another terrible loss here. So sad when these people fade out of our pages (but never out of our memories).

 

Please forgive me if I get any of the "handles/user names" wrong (I can't go back to the original CDC to be sure). My memory isn't great, especially with the fog of COVID hanging over me. Feel free to correct me if I get any of it wrong.

 

Although this thread is NOT to be used other than to respectfully commemorate those who have passed on, I'm reluctant to make it a closed thread. I think it can be a good place to share and keep alive memories of those who have graced us with their presence over the years.

 

May they truly rest in peace. When our team gets that elusive cup it will be with all of them in mind.

Seconded, he brought variety to it, and given how eclectic my tastes are (he'd frequently react) his music tastes must have been quite eclectic as well 

 

He also did a good job at posting Canucks centered news, as others have mentioned 

 

Picking up Vintage's slack has been a group effort and he definitely shouldered some of that burden

The closest person I would consider knowing but not knowing personally is @Ghostsof1915 as he has a mutual friend who is the boyfriend of my mother (funny how small the world is) but I honestly don't know anyone on the forums personally I've been around since 2009 I have posted every once in awhile but during hockey season I am more of a frequent poster. I am glad to be apart of a community like this and sad to hear about the ones passing and @Rip The Mesh will be missed on these forums.

Thank you to everyone here for their kind words regarding my father, and especially @-dlc- for creating this thread to honor not only my father, but all of our other fallen teammates as well. He cared a lot about this place and I know it would make him happy knowing just how many people here cared for him.

 

Hopefully, wherever he is now, he does. 

 

I miss him so much already. I woke up today hoping it was all just a bad dream. I still can't believe he's gone.

Rip the Mesh was a great contributor here. At times I thought he was possibly Vintage under a different username. 
 

RtM had a great sense of humour, he and I seemed to share the same laughs. 
 

Sad how I take personalities on these pages for granted and assume they will always be here sharing their knowledge , information and humour.

I'm so sorry for your loss, 48MPH.  I know from experience, that losing a parent is a difficult thing to deal with.

The memory of your father will never fade, but thankfully the pain of losing him will diminish with time.

 

I didn't know RTM and I couldn't put a face to his name, but I sure have a sense of his respectful and kind nature.  He

was a big part of this forum and he will truly be missed.  His incredibly eclectic taste in music was inspiring to me and

he has left us with a wonderful collection of songs in the 'What are you listening to' section.

I don’t know what to say. I don’t know anyone in person here but you are kinda like my digital family. It’s hurts to hear this news. Life can be so fragile. I’m learning to stay present and in the moment. I lost my father this year too. A lot of mixed emotions.

It seems this group of fans whose membership may be global is in reality a small community. When one leaves us the rest remember with fondness. While we are together online it gives each of us a special feeling of closeness.
