That’s such a huge part of 3 on 3. Once they lost that opening draw they couldn’t get the puck back. They were just hoping for a fumble or a wide shot. If Miller can’t win those draws gotta get a guy out there who can like the Canes did. While important the opening draw isn't the only determination of who will win. Can't hang the blame all on Miller.

Yea I really wish they were able to complete the come back in regulation and it's not because I cared about whether Carolina getting a point. We don't fare well in OT and even worst in shootouts. 1

We didn't play well in the skating game for 60 prior to the OT goal. Sisu won in the end, but Lanky was all Sisu for the first 60 minutes. Takes a Finn to beat a Finn. Hehe. Sisu is an excellent movie 1 1
cripplereh Posted October 29 Posted October 29 Well we played great to get the.point but yes first part of the game we got lucky to stay in it.

Well he lost the opening draw and his check. Not hanging it all on him but he was definitely a factor in that loss.
GrammaInTheTub Posted October 29 Posted October 29 Carolina’s a good team - we’ll probably even see them in the cup finals. It’s okay guys 1

If you don't win it, you gotta play defense and try to force the turnover. Miller didn't do that all that well. Miller got caught up in the cycle and blew his coverage. If you do the cycle right, it's gonna happen. Just sad the Canes were sooooo open on that play. It wasn't his best game by any stretch, but I'm not holding a grudge. Happens to the best. 1
DelPiLeo Posted October 29 Posted October 29 The score line could became tragedy if not because of our goalie. The team just never got back into the game after the disallowed goal and just finally able to get going after killed off the 3 on 5 PK.

What does us in is our own level of compete outside those times of urgency and frenetic energy. I firmly believe we should roll all 4 F lines a little bit more often to ensure that there’s consistent spark and ambition for a full 60. We have the skill sets to command a complete game but tend to lack the killer instinct until it’s absolutely imperative. Give more minutes to the 3rd and 4th lines and I bet the top 6 will play a little more aggressively with their TOI. They need to be hungrier more often. Worth a shot, sure. I miss all those games in the first half last year, where we just came out rolling right away. These past few where they mail it in for most of the first is hard to take. 1

They play it like a joke where it's just a free for all to show off and try to score a fancy goal.

Keslers Ghost Posted October 29 Posted October 29 Was at the game. Fun atmosphere. Carolina looked like the faster, sharper team for most of the first two periods. Good rally in the third and was encouraging to see them turn up the intensity. Lankinen played well. Take the point from a sloppy game and move on. 1

They just can't seem to handle any decent pressure when they're a man up. I miss those days where Miller could win a quick faceoff and either Boes or Petey could wire it home.
wai_lai416 Posted October 29 Posted October 29 it's nice we are picking up these early points despite we haven't really played well to start the season.. something of old habits seems to be back with the canucks so far out of the 8 games? they have played maybe 1 60mins game? or maybe none i dunno they either start off strong.. or start off sleep walking and shows up later.. fix it and we'll look a lot better.. i'm still interested to see how this team match up against the playoff contenders when they play a 60min game.. even though we have 4 wins.. let's face it.. it's against philly pittsburgh florida missing 20million in the lineup and chicago.. so hopefully they get back to the old habits of playing 60mins.. and not have to play catchup or let the foot off the gas and let the game slip away.
AnotherCanucksFan Posted October 29 Posted October 29 (edited) Listening to some Sportscasters say that our wins at the beginning of last season gave us the buffer and confidence we needed to win our Division and get in the playoffs. That may be true, but trying to repeat the same path to the playoffs from one year to the next is difficut to do. We have a different team this year with many new players and lines. We had an exceptional start last year, but adding new pieces and losing other pieces is going to create growing pains, just unavoidable. Consider we don't have Joshua or Demko playing, two key cogs in our team last year. Kevin Lankinen has done well stepping in, which is a big positive for the team. In some ways it felt like we couldn't lose in the first half of the season last year. This year it feels like we're going to have to work harder to get our team play together and win games. I think some players from last year are expecting us to win like we did last year, but we just rode a wave last year that is very hard to replicate. Edited October 29 by AnotherCanucksFan
