Rounoush Posted November 4 Posted November 4 (edited) 10 Game mark has come and gone. What have you got for player grades so far? EDIT: I'm using the A, B, C+, C, C-, F scale. Edited November 4 by Rounoush 1 Quote

He has 9 points in 10 games, nearly 60%!! on the faceoff dot, 4th on the team in hits, playing over 19min per game including PK time. I'd say a B is fair. He'd have an A if he had a couple more points IMO. 2 Quote
Ballisticsports Posted November 4 Posted November 4 You might get 2 different gradings, if one was for Effort and one for Results Ranking for 5v5,PP,PK are more team dynamics than individual rankings Individual can be misconstrued when a player has no choice to put himself in a bad position, because a team mate didn't play his position properly and then the whole line struggles I like high effort for which rewards can sometimes take time I agree with the doctor on Garland, Sherwood, Lankinen-A These guys do their roles and with great effort and once we get everyone on board upping theirs and doing as the coaches want them too RT even stated after that blow out that they were prepped for days what to look for and do and they did none of it as a group 10 games in, with 9 new starters in and some of our better players not performing like they can and our starting goalie out, this is not an old team and I see us improving as we go further into the season 3 Quote
Jess Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Probably too soon for me to feel like I could grade players. I'd maybe do one at the 1/4 mark--20 games. Quote
Rounoush Posted November 4 Author Posted November 4 I think it would be fun and interesting to grade every 10 games and see who's scores change. 1 Quote
DSVII Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Harsh on Petey. Ignoring his cap hit he still has a chance to piece things together. But yeah below avg for sure. 1 Quote

The guy has 4 points and has been playing the most uninspiring hockey I’ve seen in a while (except for the last shift last game). Anything more than a C- just isn’t being realistic. Also, you can’t ignore his cap hit. It’s top 5 in the league. Even PPG should be considered underperforming Quote

If he's like this at game 20 I'm fine with the F. There's still time. Quote

There were a few guys I was bouncing back and forth with: Pettersson: C- or F Ultimately went with F because, while he is still responsible in his own end and has been unlucky on a few goal scoring opportunities, I need to see more effort and confidence in the offensive zone. Miller: B or C+ You take the good with the bad with JT. Always have. He can just as easily take over games as be one of the primary reasons why you are losing another. Just barely went with B because he has taken over a few games and we won because of it. Brannstrom: A or B Was pondering if A was too high but ultimately he has exceeded my expectations. After seeing his games in Abby where the coaches just let him play loose offensively, I was worried he would do it here too. He has been very reliable and isn't trying to push it. We know he has offensive potential so seeing him being tidy and responsible is encouraging. DeBrusk: C- or F Maybe F is a little harsh for the new guy but I need to see more out of him if he is not scoring. He should be looking to Sherwood and Joshua as examples on how to play. 1 Quote

Personal preference. It's still game 10 of this new team configuration. I usually wait till game 20 or the American Thanksgiving break as the barometer. You are not wrong to call out his issues. Confidence or otherwise ofc. 2 1 Quote
Phil_314 Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Garland gets the C. C for captain, A for his grade; you're a literal leader when you're the only one trying to break down a defense and you get into a fight to try to spark your team, even if nobody responds after you get punched in the face for your efforts. 1 1 Quote

This will be the last year people bitch about Garland. If he hasn't earned your respect yet, not sure why you're following this team, or the sport really. Quote

If he hasn't earned your respect yet, not sure why you're following this team, or the sport really. He does seem to be the new Burrows, a little slow to win everyone over. I was pumped when he got him, then started to doubt him for a little while. Maybe another comparable is Barry Pederson...great Canuck, competing for best on the team during his run in the flying skate and the flying V, but fans didn't like that he wasn't matching up to Cam Neely 2.0. Canucks and/or fans also didn't seem to fully appreciate what they had with Arturs Irbe. And Rich Sutter sort of had Barry Pederson syndrome, where he was a really good Canuck but played in the shadow of five higher scoring brothers elsewhere. People were like, of course we have the crappy Sutter, when in reality he was an asset to any NHL roster. There will maybe never be another Martin Gelinas, where the fans and press literally pressured the team to tear up his contract and give him a raise. Edited November 6 by Kevin Biestra 1 Quote
Gurn Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Brock B+ Miller B- Garland A Hughes A Suter C Blueger C Sherwood B Hogs C+ DeBrusk C - a notorious slow starter, so I'm expecting much better as the year goes along Heinen C Petey D if not for his defensive work it would be an F Sprong C Hronek C+ need more out of this guy Aman C+ Myers C+ need more Bains B didn't think he'd play as much as he has Raty not enough time to grade Forbert not enough time to grade DeSharnais C - a work in progress Brannstrom B Soucy C- what happened to this guy? Juulsen not enough time Lankinen A+ the highest rating on the team Silovs C- which isn't that bad for a rookie tender, but was expecting around a B 1 Quote
