Shekky Posted November 5 Posted November 5 yeah young defenceman I think some salary would have to go back the other way Quote
Kevlar Posted November 5 Author Posted November 5 Craig Button's analysis in 2019: A two-way defenseman for the Colorado Avalanche, Byram was drafted in the first round, fourth overall, in 2019. He is known for his powerful skating and heavy shooting. Check out this cool story about Byram: https://www.nhl.com/sabres/news/buffalo-sabres-end-of-season-recap-2023-24-defenseman-bowen-byram-brought-skill-and-experience-to-sabres-young-defense-corps Quote
GrammaInTheTub Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Oooo fun! I’d definitely take a chance on him. Brannstrom looks great - but what about three puck moving dmen on the left side. Meeeyowww 1 Quote
elvis15 Posted November 5 Posted November 5 "Strong evidence" is a big stretch: Quote A new report has been released that is indicating there are a handful of NHL clubs calling the Buffalo Sabres to try and land young defenseman Bowen Byram, and the Vancouver Canucks are almost a guarantee to be one of them. Today, NHL insider and TSN analyst Darren Dreger revealed that he talked with the Buffalo Sabres, and confirmed that their are West Coast teams calling trying to land Byram. He did mention that the team is not actively shopping him, and that it is not guaranteed the Canucks were one of the callers, but, here is why we think they have to be. GMs talk, but it's a big jump from a regular call to check in and actively pursuing a player. 2 Quote

Speculation would even be strong considering the source from the article specifically mentions he hasn't heard of the Canucks being involved. It's really just a blogger speculating it would make sense if they were interested, and I could figure that much out. Quote

Phil_314 Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Where's the Buffalo fan guy? I have my doubts about whether they'd trade him, not sure if they would now since they traded Mittlestadt to get him, recently they put him up pair 1 with Dahlin and I doubt he's been a problem, being a cheap, young, 0.5 point/ game defender with upside. Jess Posted November 5 Posted November 5 He's brimming with huge potential offensively, though idk what his defensive game is like. Would cost a lot to get him though. Typically plays 2nd unit minutes in Buffalo and outside of his mediocre first season he's averaged about 40 points per 82 games. His contract ends at the end of this year so I'm wondering if the Sabres are unsure about his contract demands at the end of the year, despite being an RFA. Currently makes $3.85M, but I'd wager he's looking for a long-term deal that pays $7M+. IDK how good a source is spreading this rumour though. 1 Quote
Popular Post spook007 Posted November 5 Popular Post Posted November 5 (edited) Sounds more like throwing mud on a wall and see if it sticks... But nevertheless interesting if true... How about all his concussions... we didn't fare too well last time, we took on a player with concussion history (Ferland)? Edited November 5 by spook007 2 5 2 Quote

The Sabres and Canucks are not good trading partners. 6 1 2 2 1 Quote

PS: just saw some old school highlights of Hasek with the 70 save 1-0 shutout win against a rookie Brodeur - what an absolute animal. He was one of the first additions to my rookie card collection as a sometimes collector. 1 Quote

Consistency in goaltending is killing them again this season. They're bound and determined to ruin Devon Levi to boot. He should be learning and maturing in the AHL, not backing up in net in the NHL. I'm betting 98% of players have the Sabres first on their NTC list. Dumpster fire of an organization in a high tax state. Not exactly an ideal location to go. 1 Quote

Sorry. I just love saying his name. Really hope Levi gets the chance to properly develop. Not for the Sabres sake, or the Canucks, but for Canadian hockey - he’s one of the few budding Canadian goalies out there. Quote
