Wonder if we might actually see him moved at some point, Boston doesn't have a ton of cap space and a Marchand extension seems inevitable 

 

In his 26-27 season, pending UFA, 2.3M cap hit 

 

He's struggled thus far, but put up 18 goals and 22 assists last season, 17 and 14 the season prior

Doesn't really have anything over and above our own bottom 6. He's not especially great on the dot (about 42% this year and 44% overall for career), and if I recall he tends to take some dumb penalties but that may have been just due to youth and enthusiasm, but it could also be (and most likely is) a defensive positional issue which takes time to sort out. Our coaches aren't that much better than Boston's when it comes to defensive positioning, so if they haven't sorted him out yet I doubt we'd move the needle much. I think Joshua is a better solution to our Bottom 6.

Frederic doesn't take many draws.  I think he's more of a left winger.  He could be a guy who could play with Petey on the left wing to add some truculence.  Or Joshua plays with Petey and Garland and Frederic plays in the bottom 6.  I'd kick the can to see what the return would be.  If it's a 3rd round pick I'd be interested...

He's not a center. 48 faceoffs taken in 13 games. Blueger has WON 73 faceoffs in 10 games. Lol. I guess you can argue he might be a fit for Petey. But man, we really are just throwing every LWer in the league who hits the market at the guy. We don't have unlimited LW roster spots. Joshua, Suter sometimes, Hoglander, Bains, Heinen, Debrusk. Something has to give. That's before throwing Raty's name into the hat as well.

why does it always happen on here, when there’s a rumour of a player may be available…. Someone ALWAYS says we should get him?? Let’s think about this. If these players are available and their team is willing to put him out there… WHY? Sometimes the best move is NO move at all.

Maybe to better their team? Fredric is a energy ball that’s expendable for them due to lack of cap flexibility, I’m not saying I wanna pay the price that it would take to get him but I def have time every day of the week to welcome Trent onto our roster if its a situation that makes sense for us

That's crazy, cause his line was getting waxed so hard they had to move Frederic to the 4th line, the 4th line guy who is replacing him on the 3rd line is +11. Meanwhile Frederic is a team worst -10. I get +/- is not a cool stat anymore. But to be a -10 only 15 games into the season is kinda nutty.

IMHO PA is working on another top 4 dman. It is the biggest need.

He would be that “middle drive” guy Tocchett wants and would definitely strengthen the Canucks wolf pack.  Definitely not worth an arm and a leg but there arnt a lot of guys available who fit his profile.  I think we all like watching Canucks games when they are the ones doing the pushing.

 

But yeah, getting a capable D if they can is a bigger need all things considered
