Damn, Barry doesn't mess around.

It's impressive really

Preds have three 1st's and two 2nd's this coming draft, they could easily add to that by shipping guys out

The Vegas and Tampa picks could be middling as they likely both make the playoffs, but that's still three first round talents they could inject into their pool

They own almost all their picks going forward, missing only a 7th this year and a 6th next year

So... who we getting from them?  Dibs on Josi!

If we're being real... Lauzon or Carrier would be ideal.

I loved him as a coach, not sure about him as a GM. He can certainly attract interesting talent but he's too in love with the old guys.

This is probably just his way to shocking the team into action more than anything about a real blow up.

See, it's his willingness to go balls to the wall in UFA that makes me think he's not screwing around

If the Preds aren't in a place to compete sooner than later than holding on to the guys they could sell won't really benefit them

They'll be stuck with some contracts, which he spoke to in the article I posted above, but they could still start to turn things over

they do have a bit of cap room too.

Well if nothing else, it's fun to think about.

As per the man himself, he's been anything but boring as an executive

With all due respect, I thought what he did this past summer was supposed to be the rebuild. Seven years for Skjei at $7M per, 4 years at $8M for Stamkos, 5 years at $5.5M for Marchessault, 3 years at $3.75 for Carrier. Meanwhile, he let McDonagh, Sherwood and Lankinen walk. Evidently, throwing money at a problem doesn't necessarily fix it. The Nashville team now is nowhere near the team it was in the playoffs, and that's on Trotz.

I agree with what everything you said, but I also believe it's better to call a spade a spade than it is to double down on ones mistakes

I like Skjei, but I don't know if I want him at $7 until 37.

Me either, but if management views the windows as being the near future idk

They're firmly into the yoyo-diet, as his predecessor attempted the same knee jerk, insta-builds/buyer's remorse.

RyJo, Duch & Turris were supposed to usher a new era..then quickly resembled a scrap heap. Non trad hockey markets can get away with such flip flopping strategies.

Guess their fanbase prob don't know no better, but they've likely already wasted a half-decade with commencing what should be a proper rebuild(entering Sabres territory)
