Popular Post Defcon1 Posted November 8 Popular Post Posted November 8 Anyone using sportsnet+ be prepared for $5 increase in monthly payment to $25 plus tax. https://mobilesyrup.com/2024/11/05/rogers-sportsnet-plus-price-increase-january-2025/ I will now cancel my sportsnet subscription and get NHL.tv at $14.99 USD without tax per month. They also have $99USD per season including playoffs. Better quality, allows replays and you can watch every game without blackout with use of VPN. Thank you sportsnet for increasing the price, now you wont get a cent from me. 3 2 1 Quote

Jess Posted November 8 Posted November 8 I pay annually, but I'll probably not renew when my subscription is up due to this. 2 1 Quote
Dangnabit Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Been experiencing a few issues with the game feeds this season so the 1-2 combo might have me switching to a different option. Quote

I think if you have VPN, just get NHL.tv, you can pay with canadian paypal. It works for me and i can even use it during travel to countries that have NHL.tv without vpn. No blackout, all games available and has both home and away broadcast and no stupid sportsnet glitch that makes you miss half the game. This package with sportsnet you would have to pay $35 per month plus tax and you wont get away broadcast and still have stupid glitches or errors. Edited November 8 by Defcon1 1 Quote

Dizzle Posted November 8 Posted November 8 I cancelled mine earlier in the year when they dropped pretty much the entire 3rd period of a game. Thought it was already steep at 20. No chance I’m paying 25 a month for a single streaming service. that price almost makes me think they’re trying to get people to go back to cable providers. 1 Quote

Yep, its terrible, it has blackouts, it has glitches and doesnt even show all canucks game as some are on prime. The beauty of NHL.tv is all games are available even those that are on prime or tsn, all games have 2 options of home and away announcers, all games are available for replay even if you miss the game and want to watch it 2 days later, way better UI and no hiccups. I dont want to advertise but i never had problems with NHL.tv when i was living in manila for a few years. Only thing is you need VPN and i got keepsolid VPN lifetime subscription that i paid $20, 6 years ago still working flawlessly. Quote
Baratheon Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Sportsnet now has a little over a month to give me a reason to stick with them. Good luck! Quote

The price increase with tax I calculated will be $28 which gives you the limited sportsnet+ that has blackouts and you can only watch regional games, so only Canucks games. This is so overpriced that its ridiculous. Thats the same price i pay for netflix and prime combined and they offer a lot more as streaming services aside from prime free delivery, photo storage and music. At this point it would be better to have cable and sportsnet package which gives you 4K quality and no glitches. 1 Quote
Defcon1 Posted November 8 Author Posted November 8 I also emailed sportsnet before terminating my services: Quote Hi, I received the refund which is much appreciated. Unfortunately, i still have had glitches in the sportsnet+ app like missing half of the 2nd period of the Canucks-Ducks game recently. With the upcoming price increase in January and zero discounts given to long time customers like me, am afraid that I will have to terminate the service. The rising monthly cost of sportsnet+ and the poor quality of the app and limited games available at an insane monthly price of $24.99 is just not worth if for me. I really wanted to stick with sportsnet+ but the rising monthly price starting in january is too much. Unfortunately I will not subscribe to your services anymore due to cost. Regards, Emailing them works and if a lot of people email them, they will know that they will lose loyal customers due to this price increase and a terrible app that doesnt match the high monthly fee. They need to understand that you cant raise prices for a poor product and expect people to just hand you the money. The alternatives are: 1. Radio 2. Online piracy 3. Cable + sportsnet package (for those that have cable) 4. NHL.tv (requires VPN) works with canadian paypal (best option) 5. ESPN+ (requires VPN, US credit card) (cheapest paid option) Quote
madrigal77 Posted November 8 Posted November 8 I'll just cancel and go back to piracy. I was already real close to doing that anyway as the app gives me errors almost every game. 2 Quote
Canucks164cup Posted November 8 Posted November 8 (edited) Honestly this is what I do and have been doing it for 10 years. I have family 3 provinces over, I sign into their account and watch all their TV channels for free, and this includes sportsnet. What's even more funny, is the Canucks game will sometimes be blacked out for them but not for me Edited November 8 by Canucks164cup 1 Quote
Gurn Posted November 8 Posted November 8 I have high speed internet, and a Formuler box. $200 a year for the Formuler subscription- $250 the first year -for the box and subscription. $16.66 per month - gets multiple Sportsnet and TSN channel- plus NHL tv pay stuff, NBA, NFL and on and on. Huge amount of sports channels, huge amount of movie, news, HBO and on and on. Once in awhile I can't watch Sportsnet Pacific- as my Formuler is from Alberta, but those games are almost always available on the NHL channels that I do get.--funny part being, it is often Shorty/Sportsnet doing the coverage anyway. - miss maybe 2-3 games a season where the F box is reloading or something- but $16.66 per month for all I get- I like it. ------------------------------- Canadians- in general are getting screwed by internet/cable/cell phone providers compared to most of the world. 1 Quote

What about that Amazon Prime I think it is and the NHL doing this on Mondays now, do you pay for that or get any of that with the NHL tv you speak of or with this F box you're talking about. I'm not 100% certain as to why this is, but I wonder if we've gone to far in the way of government subsidy/protection for big companies that have suffocated smaller companies from challenging the abhorrent prices we get gouged with when it comes to media (and airlines... and groceries...). I know our population base is a bit of a problem as we don't have a lot of population density, but it still just seems ridiculous. 1 Quote

I guess its good because you dont pay anything but doesnt work for my usecase anymore as i tend to pause games, rewind or if i miss a game, i want to watch the full replay. Quote

BabyCakes Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Did SN+ for two years and will never do it again. Glitchy and crappy. Drove me to steam illegally. I understand why it's not possible but in my perfect world I would love a service where you can watch any sports game in the world for like a 20-30 dollar fee per game legitimately, which includes post game stuff. I get that it's pie in the sky, but would be great. I have zero issues paying for a good convenient product Quote
Hammertime Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Ya I think I'm done. Honestly this seems archaic to be paying for something as a consumer. When they are making 90% of their money off the ad revenue. Quote
