I remember Trotz when he signed all those FAs, he said something along the lines of "When I was the coach, I asked the GM every free agency if I could have X player (big name top 6 FWD or top 4 D), and I was always told 'no,' and it can be disappointing. Now that I am the GM, having been on the other side, I want give the coach the players he wants."

And that's the problem, he is now the GM, he has to think long term what works best of the team. That includes draft capitals, cap space, asset management and many more facets of the game. The coach's job is just to get the most out of every player in his line up every game. He doesn't have to worry about where the team is at beyond the current season (let's face it, he won't even know if he would be on the team next season). For coaches, it's always win now. For GMs, you have to think long term what works best for your team over the span of next 3-5 years.

Trotz botched it this summer by signing players at the wrong side of 30 to term. He is now paying the consequences of it.

On another note, freaking Stamkos always scores agaisnt us, especially when the game is in Vancouver. Next meeting, I want to see our power forwards just run him over multiple times in the first period to soften him up for the rest of teh game. He is 34, he has had previous injuries, I few big hits could tame him down the rest of the game.

but what do they have to offer?

Three first round picks this year, two second round picks, almost all their own picks in the years to come

Edstrom, Molendyk, Surin, Wood

But yeah, picks are likelier than prospects at this point

I thought he's going for a rebuild plan if they cannot turn it around soon?

He witness the Preds got eliminated by the Canucks.

He add those UFA and well known career Canuck killers in Stamkos and Marchessault so he could beat the Canucks. They won the game against the Canucks, to him that's turning it around. Every other game doesn't matter.

I thought so too, apparently they're looking for a center as a well as a D but the market's been cold

They could still sell at some point

Imagine if we had signed him, 4 goals guaranteed at home every night! 2 against the Opp and 2 in his own net!

That would be the smart approach. He's probably doubling down, because he's feeling the heat from ownership.

Black Friday 2 for 1 deal.

Soucy and Myers.

For the low, low price of a 2nd round pick, and a 3rd.

Hurry now before it's too late!

Yeah and then take Borgen from Seattle to complete the Sprong trade.

The team shouldn't be this bad on paper.

they are in luck! we have a 6'7 defenceman who can't defend but he's yuge and tough.

He was very solid last season don’t know why some of you insist on pedalling this nonsense still

Wait, so Trotz wants to trade a defenseman for more center depth but also wants to add a defenseman? Nashville definitely seems to be lacking any kind of long-term plan or cohesive vision.

Preds are directionless at this point. Trotz is having a really rough start as GM.

I think he should have stuck to coaching with how things ar going too
