Guy doesn’t have much faith in himself taking that contract

Could be, can't fault a guy for grabbing security though

He's never been a big point guy, hitting twenty or higher twice

Eight goals in twenty games thus far, one off from tying his career high, but he's also shooting at 22.2% thus far, so it's probably not sustainable

Vegas's tax bit also gives his dollar return more juice

Oh forsure but with the cap supposedly going up another 9 and who knows over the next 5 years I feel like he took a very team friendly deal, if the guy reaches 20 goals this year well playing a defensively sound physical game he should be flirting around the 3.5-3.75 value

Bettman poured some water on the cap bit the other day, it could happen but it's not a sure thing

I wouldn't be surprised to see a larger jump than usual, but I also wouldn't be surprised if it weren't dramatically higher than the jump we just saw

Agreed on value, he probably could have gotten more if he'd waited on the actual cap jump to sort itself out

I mean, 371 NHL games. He pretty much is what he is at this point.

Well he got promoted to the 3rd line this year and has made the most of his situation, I don’t think it’s far fetched to see a 26 year old take another step, I mean Dylan strome is doing it at 27 right now 🤷🏼‍♂️

The level playing field is non-existent in the KHL, I mean NHL.
