garthsbutcher Posted Wednesday at 09:32 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:32 PM This might work for both teams, frank would slot in nicely into our top 6 or 9. Ducks get younger and cost controlled. Worst case move him at deadline. Quote

Honkin Hronek Posted Wednesday at 10:17 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:17 PM Vatrano is a solid player, though he's not playing at the level he did last year. I'd be open to acquiring him as a pure rental but where does he fit in on our healthy roster? Suter - Miller - Boeser DeBrusk - Petey - Sherwood Joshua - Blueger - Garland Heinen - Raty - Bains(?) I'm not convinced Suter or Sherwood last as the wings on their current lines so I could see him fitting in there, but he's a very similar player stylistically to Sprong and that obviously didn't work. Obviously Vatrano's better, but does either top six line need a pure sniper? I don't think so. I think I'd rather Hog++ be used to go all in on K'Andre Miller, Rasmus Andersson or a similar young defenseman. 2 Quote
Strawbone Posted Wednesday at 10:19 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:19 PM So often I watch Hoglander play and I think one day, he's going to figure it all out and be an amazing player, but it just isn't happening. He works so hard and skates well and never quits and is a real pest, I feel like he should be a 40-50 point guy consistently. Maybe some other GM will be thinking the same thing and give us a big haul for him. But I'd love to see him break out with the Canucks. Last year was pretty good but he's on pace for less than 25 points this year. 1 Quote

Sherwood, Garland are easily interchangeable pieces so it's not like the lines need to be set in stone. Having said that, I agree with Ghost..Defense is more important, Much rather fix that instead. Sophomore Jinx Posted Thursday at 03:34 AM Posted Thursday at 03:34 AM Hogz is awful, there's no way around that, even with 4th line duty he should be showing much more. I am sure PA et al are looking to sell before he depreciates, coz he ain't gonna be the guy many think he'll be...just my opinion, but also the coach's too, who has never really trusted the guy enough to elevate him in the lineup. He's an overpaid, undersized bottom 6 forward. He got a contract coming off a career year with an unrepeatable shooting percentage. I suspect it'll take retention to move him at this point Quote

It's not nearly as bad as people are making it out to be. Our problem is the lack of playmakers in our fwd group. Too many straight line downhill players and not enough puck movement. To the OP Love Vatrano. But he's just more of what we already have. We need to diversify. Edited yesterday at 12:12 AM by Hammertime Quote

My memory could be faulty but I'm pretty sure it started out as Raymond, Ballard, and 1st. And depending on the player we were asking for that first, in some proposals were changed to 2nd. Then it just got so silly in the number of proposals, it became a punchline. 1 Quote
