  1. Name a top forward in this league that doesn't play with another top forward. Matthews, McDavid, McKinnon, Crosby, Barkov, Pointe, etc. ALL have a top-line running mate. Nobody will argue that when Lindholm was tried with Petey, he was NOT the player he's been in the playoffs. He was hurt and only now is playing like the player we traded for. Both he and Petey are more comfortable at center, and Tocchet likes both of them in the middle. I was hoping that he and Hogs would develop some chemistry but that hasn't happened, hopefully it will happen with Karlsson. Also, I don't believe that Petey's not playing hurt. I think he's playing the best he can right now and working harder on defense than offense.

It's kind of hard for him to have success when he's playing with two 4th liners. That line should have at least six goals this playoffs on Mik's chances alone, but play after play have died on his stick, he's had so many chances and couldn't put the puck in the ocean from the pier. Hogs has looked awful this playoffs, many times Petey's been in position to get a good look and Hogs hasn't gotten him the puck. Tonight, Karlsson gets inserted, a brand new winger with whom Petey has yet to develop chemistry. I thought Karlsson played well, he was out there late in the third. Let's see what happens if they get a few games together, Karlsson was a PPG player in Abby, its good to see what the team has in him. I expect him to be given a good shot to make the team in camp, we will need some value contracts after we get done signing our UFAs. In comparison, look at how unsuccessful McJesus was in game one, and he has a 50-goal scorer on his wing. But put Draisaitl on his line and things were much different for "the best player in hockey." What Petey and his line are doing well is defending. Their line gave up zero HDCA, and had one HDCF. That's at least the second game in a row that Petey's line has given up zero high danger chances, even though Edmonton had last change. On another note, I thought Myers was great, and he was the high minute man for the game for the Canucks.
  3. Silovs now has one more career playoff win than Demmer, no knock on Demko, just a statement as to how awful this team has been since the Sedin days.
  4. I totally agree with this, Silovs is the hot hand, Tocchet is obviously a big supporter I think he lets Arturs play it out.
  5. The TNT guys are interviewing Artie, what a great kid, big smile, funny despite speaking in his second language. There is no reason to rush Demko back, even if he makes it back; I think you stick with Silovs if he remains hot.

We are more balanced but didn’t deserve it today We need to make their top player pay a tax every time they touch the puck; they have no qualms with high-sticking and slew footing our captain, and hitting our guys late, let's make them hurt, make them pay a heavy tax.
  7. I just watched Game 1 again, and it was almost as much fun the second time. I've had this stupid grin on my face and a light feeling in my heart for over 24 hours now.
  8. Thats nuts. Who would have forced him into a contract? His mommy? He could have tested the FA waters and gone nearly anywhere for as much or more than he got here. He even left money in the table for the good of the team. Petey is as passionate as anybody on the team, he wants to win, and is obviously frustrated with his play, either due to some lingering injury, or a strange lack of confidence which I don't buy, but you know he FEELS pressure, internal from his high drive, and external from every fan and media type asking what's wrong with Petey. I've heard Petey compared to Mats Sundin, who was reportedly as passionate as anybody about winning, but Toronto fans were driven crazy by his aloof manner. Petey has always been a super private person, he shuns the limelight and only does media because he has to. He is also just 25 years old. I can't imagine how my 25-year-old ass would have dealt with the hopes and dreams of millions of Canucks fans hanging on my every shift, but it would not have been good. People compare Petey to JT, a passionate extrovert who is an open book to our fans. Fans love that, but that's not Petey's comfort zone. Let him be himself, he will figure it out. His defense this game was great. With defense will come his offense. Also, he's playing with two fourth liners. I love Hogs and am dying for him to take another step, but he needs to look for Petey, two or three times this game Petey was wide open especially for a breakaway, and Hogs either didn't pass it or sent it to Mik's stick to die.
  9. Where did he struggle? Goal 1, defensive breakdown by Cole leaving a 50-goal scorer by himself at thd side of the net, and taking NOBODY, not even Demko stops that. Goal 2, completely screened and guessed wrong, maybe overcommitted to the blocker side, something DeSmith does often. Goal 3, scored buy Cole, who had a really rough first two periods. Goal 4, trajectory changed by Myers stick check, based on blade angle it was labeled far side, which was where Selovs was looking, but the stick check took the pace off the puck and it squeaked 5-hole. He did look a little nervous at times, but he played great down the stretch, and made a couple of amazing saves, that toe save goes in on DeSmith because he's shorter. You ride Silovs until he turns in a stinker or Demko is fully healthy. Do you think if Demko was in Goal and the game went the same way that Tocchet starts DeSmith in game 2? No way. Silovs is now your starter, period.
  10. Disagree, the only goal he could have been better on was the second goal, but Arturs was completely screened and guessing on a side the shot would be coming to, he over reacted, a regular DeSmith problem. None of the other goals were his fault either, Cole left Hyman all alone on the first, deflected the third goal in, and Myers' stick altered the release of the forth goal making it go five hole instead of far side, where the blade angle read had it going. All likely would have gone past Demko. You stay with the hot hand, he survived game one jitters and will be better in Game 2.

Amazing tip by JT and several nice defensive plays by him as well, getting his stick into the passing lanes. Another great game by Zadorov too. When Blueger was the center on this line, they were the best third line in the league. Now Lindy has turned that line into one of the top second lines in the league, it's amazing what his addition has done, higher hockey IQ, better playmaker and an ace on the draw. I hope PA can figure a way to get new contracts for Z, Dak and Lindy under the cap, they have been difference makers this playoffs.
  12. And is Darnell Nurse a fucking waste of $9 million! He and Cici both checking Dak, and Garland turnstiles him.
  13. HOLY SHIT, I just realized I've been holding my breath for the last ten minutes. What a GAME!!!!!!!!
  14. I think with Artie, there's a chance they could give him a heavier load, kind of like a 1B, as opposed to a G2, allowing him to stay sharper and easing the wear and tear on Demmer. Demmer has suffered some pretty serious injuries over the years, and if Silovs continues to improve, does management resign Demmer at the end of his contract? If he stays healthy, it becomes an interesting debate.
  15. I will remind folks who poopooed my suggestion after Casey lost his game 2 that they give Silovs a shot because there is less of a book for other teams to prescout. I'm working tonight, so only got to watch highlights, but it looks like Arturs played great, and I think the debate is over as far as G2 is concerned next year.
