  1. So then, pray tell, what does the abortion argument hinge on if not women's rights?
  2. You pull this statement a lot about America. I find it amusing coming from someone growing non-native plants on stolen land in Australia. Yes, I know, your family legally purchased it. By that logic pretty much every American (or Canadian for that matter) are not living on stolen land since it was bought in the recent past or currently. Or you can accept the fact that purchasing something that was stolen doesn't make it less stolen; it just means you, personally, didn't steal it. I can certainly admit that I live on land that was stolen by people who were here before my ancestors and then sold it to them. The rest of your response is your usual condescending bashing with a side of holier-than-thou attitude, so I won't bother replying to it. But I'm digressing too much from the thread so I'll leave off this line of conversation.
  3. Taking down the flag with the express purpose of replacing it with another sovereign flag is an act of aggression and possibly treason. While not directly violent, it does announce intent. Americans probably do hold the flag dearer than an Aussie. Our flag is soaked in the blood of patriots that fought for a free nation (and before you take your jabs about America not living up to its standards - I agree, but we are getting there). Australia did not fight for its independence, so perhaps doesn't hold the flag in the same regard? Students have every right to protest; every citizen does. However, once you start damaging property, taking over buildings, and generally disrupting operations of a place you lose that right. Your right to protest does not give you the right to commit crimes. Yeah, we did used to burn British flags. As mentioned above, we were at war then. And as an aside, for someone who goes on a lot about how bad nationalism is, you spend a LOT of time comparing everything to how things are so much better is Australia. Sounds very nationalistic to me.
  4. Yes, but Johnson was not a sitting president eliminating a domestic rival. So even if there was presidential immunity it wouldn't apply to the argument I think you're attempting to make. Plus, your rumor is wrong. Everyone knows it was the space aliens.......
  5. I don't know about the others but I give you grief over it because it's not the cool kids ganging up on some poor loner. It's because you use them as some sort of flex that makes you an authority (we've probably all lost count of how many dinners with experts that you claim you were having - and then never followed up with the info you were supposed to attain) or better off than some others here. You are not a victim here, except by your own ego.
  6. No no no. He already explained that the expensive car washes was because the workers make way too much at minimum wage....
  7. You were then asked to explain what you meant by not saying that with PP in power (which honestly was framed in a way too make it sound like Trump's Revenge Tour), and you provided a non-answer. I'm looking to clarify your non-answer. You're right about the dinner party schtick though. It got old probably about about the 10th time you used it.
  8. A response like this usually means one of two things: 1) You don't really have any idea 2) You know that the answer is grossly offensive in some way Could you at least tell us which of the two your answer falls under? Or are you waiting for your next dinner party so you can get the answer?
  9. Of course I was considering political scandal. Why would you assume I was talking about personal scandals?
  10. I realize I am American and don't know a lot about Canadian politics. I assume that PP is the leader of his party, correct? And then is held by you (and those that agree with you) to the same standard? ie If any member of his party is involved in anything untoward, then PP is also held responsible or should not be in power...? Or does it only matter for the PM?
  11. And in the same breath says it's too much because there's no skill required as he yaps into a mic, which we all know is a highly skilled position . And he makes how much a year doing that...?
  12. Someone needs to point out to Trump's team (because it's useless to point out anything to Trump) that Trans Visibility Day has been on March 31 since 2009...
  13. Sounds to me like they colonized it.
  14. You're thinking contact sports, but there are a ton of sports that don't involve contact. You're against transgender people competing there as well? Including female to male transgender athletes?
  15. So you're ok with trans athletes competing with genders they identify with, if the sport is one with less physicality? Not judging on it; I want to make sure I understand your position.
