  1. Its wild to me. One team finished higher in the standings, played and beat the tougher opponent (who played really well) in RD1, and SWEPT the other team in the season series 4-0... including a game a couple weeks ago with the back up goalie. And yet everyone picks the team that lost the season series, finished lower in the standings, played the easier opponent (who played terribly by the way) .. crazy. A couple interesting stats from the Oilers RD1 All three of Vancouver's goalies have better stats than the Oilers starter. McDavid 12 points only +3 Draisaitl 10 points only +2 RNH 6 points only 0 Hyman 8 points only +4 This tells me that these three players were either ineffective and/or pretty terrible 5 on 5 and completely relied on the refs gifting them numerous powerplays. Almost the entire lower half of their roster is in the negative even though the Oilers scored 22 goals in 5 games.
  2. LOL.. is joshua even playing? That supposed big pay day for joshua is shrinking game by game. Other than his goal in the first game he has been invisible. WAAAAAAAY to slow for this playoff hockey. The only noticeable player on that line this series is Garland as usual. But the refs are allowing the preds to absolutely maul him most of the time.
  3. BS. Mik isn't the one that stood there watching a 2 on 1 go the other way. Mik isn't the one trying to slide passes through legs rather than wiring slapshots at the net or making the defender regret blocking. Mik isn't the one that stops skating immediately when he gets the puck on his stick. Petey is supposed to be a superstar.. he has at best been an non factor and more likely a detriment at -5. He refuses to skate, he refuses to attack the net, he refuses to shoot the puck.. he was also out of position again for the first goal. He's been my fav player since he was drafted... I believed we would get SHL playoff mvp petey even if he wasn't great down the stretch.. or at the very least competitive and point per game bubble petey. I don't want to hear a damn thing about him being injured after the season... if he was injured then he should have been out resting down the stretch. Guy is the highest paid forward on the team not named Miller. He is supposed to make his linemates better not he other way around.
  4. That line up isn't what got them there. And the lotto line has been pretty much terrible when together outside of that 3 or 4 games on the road. There is a reason it hadn't been used in a long time. With the three of them together NOBODY skates hard.. nobody gets in on the forecheck. And they spend way to much time trying to make a pretty play. Petey is supposed to be a superstar he needs to figure his shit out and produce regardless of wingers.. and make his wingers better. Hogs has 25 goals this year. Its not like he has no talent on the ice with him. He just doesn't move his feet at all. As soon as the puck is on his stick he glides.. or stops .. or tries to lean on the person checking him rather than separate from them, make a play or just drive the net and attack with the puck. He is always standing still or gliding and he wasn't like that when he came into the league.. go look at his rookie year highlights its all rushes and shots and directly attacking the net and one timers.
  5. I still think it looks like petey put that rebound in his own net after the give away. My eyes may be playing tricks on me but it looks like his stick that knifes it behind desmith.
  6. Lets be real.. it means he's out for the playoffs. The original injury he left the game under his own power with no limp or even sign of injury.. and he was gone for weeks. 3 games back and he's out with an injury to the same knee. He's not coming back and even if he did you couldn't depend on him after a game to not be injured again.
  7. Just watched a Nashville based hockey podcast. They were all pretty unanimously in agreement that the Preds are lucky as hell to have won that game and be 1-1. That Van has been the better team in both games and in game two Van was the WAAAAAAAYYYY better team but had bad bounces both offensively and defensively. That Petey missing open nets like that isn't something they can depend on. That half the game looked like a Vancouver PP that the ice was so tilted in Vans favor. To be honest even though they won the people on that podcast looked shell shocked... They looked and sounded very worried about the series after that game (after a win) So for Van fans even though its tied we should take solace in the fact that Van has been the better team in both games and even the preds fans see that. If they keep playing with that intensity they will win. They just need to bare down on shots more, stop hesitating and stop trying to over pass through skates. Tocchet needs to sit miller, boes and petey down and say listen.. you are shooters on the PP.. if you go out on the next PP and don't move your feet and don't shoot the puck and constantly stand still and pass off then you will sit for the next PP and we will use someone that will shoot the puck.
  8. He absolutely did not sign a contract under market value. He did demand/suggest other players do that.. like Burrows. He also signed an offer sheet forcing the canucks to pay him way more than his value at the time. Oh look you are one of those people that doesn't understand what a no trade clause is. A no trade clause is negotiated so that a team can't just choose to trade a player.. or trade them to certain teams.. It is not negotiated so you can demand a trade when the team doesn't actually want to trade you and then use it to hamstring the team to only trade you to the team you want to go to. Ya he wanted to win.. for him, not the team and when things got tough he didn't play better he demanded to go leach off Kane and Toews or Perry and Getzlaf... in other words he didn't give a damn about vancouver and he doesn't deserve to be in the ROH because he had one really good year.
  9. NO! People have very short and revisionist memories. Kesler never loved vancouver and it was never his "home" He was a good player that played well for a few years. He absolutely did not 'give his all' for vancouver.. completely the opposite. Do we forget that early in his career he signed an offer sheet to leave for money and go play in Philly? Do we forget that later in his career when things weren't going well he didn't play harder or take the lead.. he BAILED on the team while others like Bieksa and Burrows would "go down with the ship"... And then handcuffed the team on return by breaking his contractual commitments and demanding a trade... and then demanded to only be traded 2 teams including the teams arch rivals chicago? So he could go coattail Toews and Kane... or Perry and Getzlaf after coat tailing the Sedins. Do we forget what a terrible teammate he was off the ice .. Those old enough know what I am talking about. He never ended up accomplishing or winning anything after he left so now wants to crawl back for some accolades from the team that he bailed on that allowed him to have some success. Just NO! Plenty of other players are more deserving and more to come.
  10. Thats WAY too much. Thats essentially 4 1sts, a roster player, a decent prospect C, a good prospect goalie for a guy that is 36 years old and would realistically only be the 3rd best forward on the team even if it is crosby. If we are trading away that many assets i'd rather go all in and offer Chicago 5 1st round picks and some other prospects for Bedard. Crosby is still good and would love to have him.. and would give a nice package to get him.. but that is too much for a guy that is 27 this summer and wouldn't be the best player on the team.
  11. I don't get it? Mikheyev is younger, bigger, faster.... has more goals even playing badly, has only slightly less points, makes less money, has better goal scoring numbers over the last 3 years including this year.. again while not even playing that well. Canucks are not hurting at center... Miller, Lindholm, Petey, Blug, Suter, Aman, Lafferty etc can all play C. Thats 3 legit top 6 C's and 4 players that can play bottom 6 C. Mik came back from a serious knee surgery.. his speed has suffered which has held him back this year, but he has already started to look a little faster the past couple weeks and will certainly be even better after another off season for the remainder of his contract. I don't see how this helps Vancouver in anyway. And you want to throw in a pick? Not to mention how many players on a first place team do people want to change? At some point you are seriously messing with chemistry and culture.. not just on the ice but in the room
