  1. Vintage Don Taylor doing Canuck highlights: "Daniel D-Money Sedin" Loved the Sedins. And my first name is Daniel. Seemed to fit, never changed it. Although...I usually go by Dan. So instead of 22 Sedin, I went with the 2 Hamhuis Jersey instead.
  2. Side point: Boeser has 7 goals and 5 assists - 12 points in 12 games. Very good! But not the crazy numbers Elliotte stated. Feel for Boeser, but hopefully this is a temporary issue and he's back and ready to (B)rock next year.
  3. I’m generally not a conspiracy theorist, or blaming the refs for much. But that charging penalty might just be the worst call I’ve seen in 40 years of watching hockey. Charging for standing still…smh…
  4. I’m pretty sure Lindholm walks, and that is my preference. As good as he’s been, his next contract will take him into his late 30’s, and I suspect it will be an albatross. Zadorov might have priced himself out. He’s just been soooo good, some GM could offer him stupid money ($6M+?). Would love to keep him though. Hopefully he is willing to take less to stay where the coach, team, and fans all love him. The one I suspect (and hope) will get done is Joshua. He’s still relatively young - really just starting his prime - and the chemistry he has with Garland is very valuable. Even though they are killing it with Lindholm, they carried their line with Bluegar earlier, so they don’t need a top-6 C to produce. I think Myers will stay, for less than market value. But it will probably be more than what some expect (guessing around $3.5M, on a 3 year deal). The rest are easily replaceable. Cole is fading, would be nice to find someone younger for that spot. Bluegar probably stays if his ask isn’t too high, especially if Joshua is staying and Lindholm walking. Silovs is ready for backup duty, so DeSmith will likely go. Lafferty’s spot will go to Podkolzin or Bains. Friedman might actually stay if he’s willing to take league minimum (can always use RHD depth), but he’ll probably want to go somewhere where he can earn more minutes.
  5. Really poor game by a lot of players tonight. But I’m fairly confident going forward. Fun fact: Pickard hasn’t started 2 games in a row all season. He’s a 32 year-old career 3rd stringer. He was decent tonight, but I expect he’ll get progressively worse each game. Gotta get more shots though, get him tired.
  6. This is the key. They identified cheaper guys like Suter, Bluger, and Cole before. And they made some good bets on players with low acquisition costs, like Zadorov and DeSmith. Some good players are going to have to be let go. Let's just hope that the next wave of cheaper talent is as good...if not better!
  7. Carolina Hurricanes release the following players to free agency: Reilly Smith Alexander Barabanov Radim Zohorna Dakota Mermis William Lagesson Logan Brown (RFA) Pheonix Copley Bobby Trivigno (RFA) Anthony Angello Filip Cederqvist (RFA) Rourke Chartier Brady Lyle (RFA)
  8. Soucy to Juulsen isn’t that big of a difference. Juuls filled that spot well for a good chunk of the year. This is not a big deal, in the slightest. It was totally worth putting McDavid in his place.
  9. There is a HUGE difference between stuff that happens during the play of the game, and stuff that happens when the play is dead - especially when the game is over. Morgan Reilly had the book thrown at him for it.
  10. I loved watching McDiver crumple like a lawn chair as much as the next Canucks fan. But the suspension was deserved. One game is more than fair. If anything, after the shot block he took last game, a game off could help in the long run. And we’re going to need Juulsen if this goes longer, so getting him another game here will keep him engaged too. You can say that all players are the same, so why not Hyman too - but that’s nonsensical. McDavid is an absolute star. The league can’t allow players to take liberties with him after the whistle. Roughing him up during the play in legal (or even borderline) ways is one thing, but letting this just slide would be a terrible look.
  11. There’s so much wrong with this, I wouldn’t even know where to start… …But how about Myers. $1.5M cap hit?
  12. That play seemed like the epitome of: ”We know where this is headed, so just put us out of our misery.” And Rielly is signed for 6 more years at $7.5M with a NMC… Toronto is screwed.
  13. Overall the Leafs played a really strong game. But Rielly allowing himself to get beat clean like that? In game 7 OT? That’s inexcusable. Just brutal.
  14. Saw both sides of Zadorov tonight. The goal was great, but then chases a hit while shorthanded, and gave away a clean break that led to the Pred’s first goal.
  15. Should have challenged the first Preds goal. Nyquist CLEARLY pushed the goalie to knock it in.
