All of those players signed their ELC's and made the NHL team. You can't play in the AHL if you are under the age of 20 and you don't have an ELC contract and you are not on the NHL roster... Shane Wright didn't make the NHL team. He played 8 games and didn't hit the 10-game minimum. So, he was allowed to go back to junior. Nylander only played 4 games. Sonny Milano was on the roster but didn't play any games.

Yes. I mean every GM misses in the 2nd round and even in the middle to late 1st round. But Benning's misses were literally in the top 10 of the draft. And he didn't miss just once, he missed 3 times. And the 4th time he traded the top 10 pick away to get OEL, who we had to eventually buy out. Gillis was a horrible drafter too, but he spent most of his time trying to finish the roster by trading picks and prospects to try and win a cup. He never had any top 10 picks until the end when he drafted Horvat...

Players can't play in the NCAA if they've already signed their ELC. That's one advantage the CHL has over the NCAA...

Zach Benson made the NHL as an 18 year old. It’s possible. Cole Sillinger did too. But more than likely unless Cootes is way above other players, he will go back to junior. Raty has to be on the roster so that’s one less spot for Cootes.
