    One of these two teams won’t be playing until October after tonight. That’s a long bloody time!

    Woke up this morning with more hesitation than optimism. It’s harder to see a path forward in these playoffs without Boeser. But screw it. There’s only five teams left standing in a 32-league team, and we’re one of them. We just need to take it one shift at a time. I hope we give the Oilers nothing tonight. Play them hard. Even if we get called on it, at least we’d go down swinging.

    I saw 14 million different outcomes, and we only win if we score more goals than them. It’s the only way.

    I really hope we expose Skinner for the bad goalie he is, even if we lose doing it.

    I’d leave Lekkerimäki out, and reinsert Mik. Lekkerimäki is 5’11, 172 pounds, and doesn’t need to get thrown into the fire yet. We don’t need Mik to be a hero, just to play solid enough that he doesn’t defensively give up anything and someone else can be the hero.

    No Demko, no Boeser, this won’t be easy. Whatever happens, let’s put up a fight.

    On the plus side, Petey is looking ok. One game for all the marbles. No matter how it lands, I’m proud of this team and what it has accomplished this season.

    Good first period, but you know game management means a couple of PPs coming to Oilers. We need to score another 5 on 5 goal early in second.

    Let’s score first today - take the sails out of the Oilers right away. And then score again. And again. No sitting back on Skinner.

    Here’s a big “what if”… what if Petey’s foot deflection on the puck put it into the net instead of off the post for Miller to slap home as the game winning goal. Would the NHL have allowed it? Or would it have been called back because Petey, the charger, used a kicking motion?

    NHL this morning: “Dammit, even with new interpretations of penalties, we couldn’t stop them last night. It’s time to release you-know-who.” ”Saturday night? I’m there, boss. Heck, I already live in Richmond.. the swanky area that you can only afford from gambling on sure things.” “Thanks Keith. But Game 6 is in Edmonton, not Vancouver. Pay attention!”

    I’d add that not only was it a horrendous call, but the timing was unjustified, in a 2-2 game, in game 5 of a tied series in the second round? When the Oilers had already been gifted three power plays already, at the mid-way point in the game? Bad time to try out a new type of BS call.

    I really hope the team stays focused on closing this thing out. As tempting as it is to daydream into the next round, each of these games have been one goal games, and it’s entirely conceivable for the Oilers to win two straight. They’ll be coming out hard, and we’ve seen the refs are prepared to give us zero favours - Saturday night is going to be one mighty test.
