  1. While it sure doesn't seem that getting outshot very badly in the last periods of hockey games would be a winning strategy, whatever the Canucks are doing is working and I'm not going to question it. Guys on the radio said with a few minutes to go in the 3rd the high danger chances were 1-1 in the period, but you still have to rely on your goalie making a ton of routine saves and not making any mistakes. Good thing we have Silovs! I'm pretty sure they'd all admit they would prefer to spend less time in their own zone though. This is a crazy playoff ride so far. This year's Canucks have been incredibly entertaining and I hope it keeps up for a while longer. I'm not expecting a Cup but even making the 3rd round would be extraordinary, and it feels like a special team that just might, with some good fortune, go all the way. It'll take some luck, but they are playing well enough that I don't think they would need an unrealistic amount of luck to win it all.
  2. I’m surprisingly relaxed about last night’s result. It was a good close game, could have gone either way. I always expected this series to go 6 or 7 and now we just gotta win one in Edmonton to set up an awesome best of 3 showdown with home ice advantage!
  3. Those lyrics... pure poetry. "Beauty is truth, and truth beauty. That is all ye know on earth, and all ye need to know." GCG!
  4. I'm gonna look at the upside of this. What are the odds you go to 6 Canucks games and they lose every one of them? Almost zero!!
  5. I love Foote at the end there with a smile on his face like a kid that just got away with stealing some candy!
  6. Yeah that was a super classy goodbye. I think he took more than his fair share of the blame here than he deserves. Honestly, if they'd somehow acquired just an elite goalie during his tenure, they likely would have had some longer playoff runs.
  7. Beers will be had I assure you. It's the only way I can survive these playoff games! I have a friend who never drinks and he's had to buy himself a bottle of Scotch just to make it through a game lol.
  8. I mean, when you're on a list that includes the legendary Harry Lumley... you know you've arrived! I was being facetious at first because who the hell is Harry Lumley, but then I looked him up... won a cup with the Red Wings and set a record of 13 shutouts in a season that lasted for decades. Nice company to be in.
  9. I'm human, I worry about things. Not very much, mind you. As I get older I've learned to live in the moment as much as I can but when I do think about this matchup, the goaltending comes to mind as something that both sides could exploit. I'd love nothing more than to see Silovs go on a fairy-tale run in these playoffs!
  10. Hey I'm concerned! I do think Silovs has been a great story, and he's looked very steady, but he also hasn't been facing shots from McDavid, Draisaitl, Hymen, and Bouchard who are on another level compared to the offensive talent of the Predators. I worry that he could get blasted early and unravel. But hopefully that's just my old Canucks PTSD talking from so many years of disappointment! He's got a strong defensive team in front of him and I'm hopeful that it will be enough to keep the Oilers at bay.
  11. I don’t think a long layoff between rounds is good. Boston looks like they picked up right where they left off and the Panthers look rusty.
  12. I just remember those final few months with Green were so glum and gloomy and depressing and his demeanor reflected it. He's probably a decent coach but he's not a guy I'd pick to motivate a young team that will likely continue to struggle for a while.
  13. Haha the salary cap cheaters who loaded up for the playoffs are out! This feels great!
  14. Mikheyev is finally going to put one in the net on a nice feed from Pettersson. It's statistically impossible that the guy doesn't score after taking 83,000 shots (give or take) without a goal.
