Agree with him in general, or on this specific issue? if it’s on this specific issue, no. If it’s in general, also no. -

After sleeping on it last night, the PK success I'm happiest about was absolutely the Pettersson "Charging" kill. I feel like if the Nux get scored on for that it might go to his head... if I'm the coach I tell him 'take that "charging" penalty every single time if guys want to run you like that'. Petey had one of the biggest 'one way, then the other' bouceback games I've seen in a long while. He did everything he needed to do... he didn't score himself, but he was everywhere and flying. -

Hah. Writing helps me dispel some anger and disappointment. I've written a LOT of words in the last decade. Some of them were even for university. So in a way, I can thank Jim Benning in some way for my degree. -

Ten seasons. Inflated numbers in a few games a year *feasting* on a few teams (going like 16/23 against Nashville in particular or something one year) but for the most part, it's pretty terrible. Stationary passing, very little movement. When it IS a goal, there's skating. Look at the Oiler powerplay - they have a triggerman who hits the net most of the time, and even he moves around - a little forward, a little back, a little side to side. Always making the D-man move around. Canuck powerplay has been guys anchored like oak trees passing it about for like a decade. Drop pass neutral zone, left side zone entry with zero speed... dump it in the corner weak with no chase from the right side. And out it comes. Or, in zone, pass along the outside... along the outside... along the outside... d to d (not actually a D) oh wait the PK is on a SH break now because they stepped up. Then they have one where everybody is moving, into and out of the slot, sowing chaos and the D gets caught looking... and then somebody scores. But it's like they forget that worked and go back to being trees the next game, it's absolutely bizzarre. -

I'm just glad Tocchet saw the same game we all did and is calling as such. He's been covering for a lot of guys for a long time in the postgame scrums, but clearly has had enough. That actually makes me feel better, as weird as it is. He'll name Pettersson as a 'leader' of the team, but you can bet the other guys will know it too. -

Perry being Perry. No contact, no call. They would never call it anything else. -
He’s right though. the Canucks haven’t played well enough consistently all series. They win in ‘spurts’. Watch how Carolina plays the Rangers. They might be down, but I really don’t think deservedly. It’s skate, work, work, work, all game. Canucks think they can coast on talent or something. As soon as they get a pass they go full A-frame and glide. Wait for passes along the wall rather than go get the puck. They’ve got a whole period to make something happen. They had about 6 minutes in the second where they ‘manned up’. They need to be there all game.

100%. Garland is giving it as usual. Everybody else is a passenger. And I’m reaaaaally hoping Cole stops playing so poorly. The PK coaching needs to change - leaving Draisaitl alone there is like leaving Ovechkin open and Backstrom wheeling. McDavid’s gonna find him. But this time it’ll be different if we just pull from him and chase McDavid right?

I’m not seeing a ton of mentions to what I think caused the travesty in the third; the absolutely stupid boarding penalty (again) from Joshua. The Canucks had the momentum from the goal and were looking good… and that penalty just sucked the wind right out of it. Naturally, the Preds score on it and we know how it went from there. We can argue challenge / Blueger, but the game never should have been there to begin with. Scorers need to score. Perfect plays in the playoffs are total anomalies. Garbage and seeing eye shots are all you get. Canucks also (Joshua particularly) need to stop taking really needless stupid penalties. I get the ‘hooking call on a partial break’ or the ‘bury an open guy beside the open net as the puck arrives’ - goal stoppers. But Miller’s hook 170 feet from the Canuck net, Joshua’s dumbass boarding and even the high stick to a degree… the refs want to give us the gears, don’t give them the chance.

I just said out loud today, are the Canucks all tired, hurt, or lazy? It's one of the three, because they aren't skating for anything. Looking for that stationary perfect passing play all the time, getting beat to every play. They really do need to step it up out there, Petey's not the only one guilty of that by a loooooong shot.

[PGT] Vancouver at Nashville - Round 1 - Game 3

It's like when you play beer league and you have an idiot or two who just lose it on a ref for no reason, or the ones who never, ever stop chirping. Guess which team gets the calls after that? So you're exactly correct - just shut up unless it's an absolutely egregious miss. Jeer the other goalie all the time. Bronx cheer the easy saves. Much better use of those vocal muscles. -

Just dreadful. Those sorts of shenanigans are what make the youth today so darn disrespectful. —Karen, from Nashville. GCG!
