  1. It’s been such a frustrating season watching Petey play and unfortunately the playoffs so far for him are simply a continuation of his play. Too often this season I found myself yelling at the tv as his stick became a place where plays went to die. Whether it was losing a board battle for a puck, falling down at the point on a PP leading to a short handed odd man advantage the other way or just simply looking lost defensively in his own zone. I don’t have any analytics, but to my eyes he’s just disengaged. BUT he finished 18th in league scoring is what my buddies always say, however to me that wasn’t indicative of his overall play all season. More often than not after games I’d ask myself whether he actually played that night, only to find he had a 2 or 3 point night by the end of the game after being invisible. So now here we are with a team working their tails off and sacrificing their bodies for each other but where’s Petey? Nowhere to be found. When the headline is “Petey had another rough night. Nothing to show on the board with no shots and not even a shot attempt” and the coach continues the familiar refrain of “we need to get some guys going” (he’s looking at you Petey), we can’t sugarcoat it anymore and I question whether he has it in him at all. I don’t know and I wonder what JR and PA are thinking watching this unfold and whether they’re second guessing the $93MM contract. I am. I’m hoping that his career unfolds like the twins career where there were early questions about them, but I’m not holding my breath. Love this team and how the top guys are dragging them into the battle but we need Petey to step up.
  2. I’m inclined to believe that management’s intent has been to potentially flip Lindholm all along, assuming they signed Petey. IMO, he’s just another asset at the deadline l, but as an experienced centreman would likely have more value at the deadline than a streaky Kuzmenko to teams with playoff aspirations. JR and PA are no Jim Benning.
  3. I don’t know about those numbers man. Just not comfortable giving that money to a guy who while he gets his points, imo has not shown he is willing or able to drag the team into battle and too often is invisible even though he might end up with 2 or 3 points at the end of the night. I find myself watching his every shift and maybe I’m being too critical but he just gives up the puck way too easily or is defending nobody in front of his own net. I’m also not a fan of his post game attitude with telling the media what questions he will or will not answer. Leaders like Hughes and Miller may not enjoy it but they do it. Petey’s attitude just rubs me the wrong way. On the other hand, really happy with the way this management team is handling this and challenging Brisson to shite or get off the pot by having trade discussions with the Hurricanes. I’m totally comfortable that they will do what’s best for the team. Bring on the trade deadline!
  4. With the accumulation of another top 6 center(lindholm), this pretty much convinces me he is gone. I seen it with Bo and I seen it with Petey in how he has handled this whole thing with his contract. Personally I wouldn't even give him a shot at the playoffs with us this year and I don't see him going any farther then the trade dead line. Realistically, I see him fetching us at least a good top 6 winger and maybe more. If we can get a Tuch type player to play with Lindholm I would be ecstatic. It would also give us the much needed cap space to resign key players we have recently accumulated like Hronek and Lindholm next year. I knew that this management group has no problem of making the team a priority over any one player. Bo learned that the hard way. Love how we do business now a days and I am totally confident Pettersson will sign a fair deal or he WILL BE DEALT, ASAP! Exactly my first thought. This management team took the power back from Petey and Brisson as a pressure point to say shite or get off the pot. Brilliant move.
  5. Will be interesting to see how being paid $4MM more than Miller affects any team dynamic. Especially when Petey is giving up pucks, falling down or on the ice for another goal against. If he thinks there’s pressure now, he ain’t seen anything yet.
  6. Petey showing no emotion in the scrum, which is pretty usual for him. https://youtu.be/VeAtjx6MSHo?si=0vKHG7U3VpeZRqiV
  7. Then you’ll need to be more specific as there’s two on the roster and one in the pipeline.
  8. I can only surmise based on what I’ve seen in his time here that he would rather be anywhere that the media and fan spotlight won’t shine on him. A market preferably that has maybe only one hockey reporter covering the team and where he could walk the streets and wouldn’t be recognized.
  9. The difference with Kesler was that he’d already put over 10 years of his blood, sweat and tears into the organization, working his way up from the Manitoba Moose to almost single handedly getting us the Cup final on one leg. After that he just wasn’t interested in being part of another rebuild at his age. I don’t like how it eventually ended for him but I don’t begrudge him wanting to leave. He’d earned it by that point imo. Petey hasn’t earned a damn thing at this point.
  10. C’mon Daniel Alfredsson, make the Brady deal happen.
  11. Correct. The team landing the best player almost always wins the deal in the short term. Which is why I suggest if we can somehow snag the number 1 pick to draft Macklin ++, I think most would be satisfied. I know I would be for sure.
  12. I think you’re on to something. I’m wondering if management has known since the start of the season that Petey wouldn’t sign, which might explain the Lindholm deal and a possible Guentzel deal. I’d still prefer an opportunity at nabbing Celebrini for any Petey deal mind you. We’re not used to a management team that is ahead of the curve and doesn’t telegraph it’s intentions or needs ahead of time.
  13. This is the crux of the debate about him imo. I’m certainly hard on him because I hold him to a higher standard. Yes he’s a “200 foot player” but it’s beyond frustrating to watch his play closely and see how how often he’s outworked for a puck, loses his balance…etc. JT and Huggy put on a master class last night and it just makes me realize I can’t remember many (if any) games at all where Petey stood out in the same way. I’m not talking his point totals but that’s the frustration. Too often I don’t notice him in games at all where he’ll still have 2 or 3 points at the end of the night. Can he become that player to carry a team or will a team to win? Maybe. I hope so. But I’m not comfortable paying him the money and term being speculated for that maybe.
