[PGT] Divemonton at Vancouver - Round 2 - Game 5
KoreanHockeyFan replied to PhillipBlunt's topic in Canucks Talk
Draisaitl, McDavid, RNH, McLeod, Janmark as your centers sound pretty good on paper to me. Ekholm-Bouchard i would say is top pairing bonified. Not Makar or Hughes level, but those two can eat minutes. I will admit the rest of their d-core is lacking. I thought Skinner had settled in for them, but I guess this round has put the OIlers goaltending back into questioning. -

1 day later, I'm still mad at that charging call on Pettersson. That bullshit needs to be reviewed. -

I know we all agree Cole is terrible. But just a question for fun - would we still prefer Cole over Ceci? That guy's been dreadful for the Oilers -

I agree with these Reddit posts. If the Oilers played like they really cared, they could actually dominate the league. But unfortunately for them, this isn't the NBA where the likes of Kobe Bryant and Lebron James can completely overtake a game and win with dominant skill while disregarding the team. The NHL is different, you need the entire team to chip in to win. Hockey by nature is probably the most team-oriented sport out of all the major sporting leagues. Soccer is probably the closest. -

To be fair, McDavid and Draisaitl alone make the Oilers one of the top teams in the league on paper. But their depth never shows up and depends on their two juggernauts to do all the work. They don't play as a team. -
Offseason Planning - regardless of outcome

Joshua, Zadorov, Lindholm - blank cheque, SIGN GOD DAMNIT Hronek - my opinion has changed at this point. just sign him to a cheap bridge deal. if he sucks by the end of it, Willander can replace. Blueger - keep, but if there's no cap room, oh well, bye. Myers - keep if we can sign for cheap Mikheyev - I'm open to giving him one more year. Still feel for him a little coming off a significant knee injury, but also won't be mad if we just buy him out. Lafferty - bye bye Ian Cole - good riddance, bye DeSmith - sorry, Silovs took your job. -

Yup, same here. Better than The Hockey Guy to be honest, I find that he doesn't provide enough of an opinion and just summarizes the games too much. -

Works for me. 1-2 to years is perfect timing for Willander. -

Also. Fuck you refs. I hope Petey keeps hitting like that. That call was such bullshit. -

Great game. Great win. Terrible goal call by Cuthbert on that last one, I want Shorthouse. -
[PGT] Vancouver at Edmonton - Game 4-Round 2

People should watch this interview. I don't know why they posted a shortened one on Twitter. The last 5 minutes of the full length interview was a great listen. Someone asked Tocchet about why he's being such a hardass and he simply replied with how the Canucks were tired of losing, so he's driving it into player's heads that this is what it takes to win, so seize the moment. -
[PGT] Vancouver at Edmonton - Game 4-Round 2

Meh, the main thing for me was that he owned up to his crappy play. I don't expect anything more from him. We all know he hates being in front of media since the day he got here. Let's not run him out of town, shall we? Not everyone has the mental fortitudes of Henrik and Daniel Sedin. Cause I swear to god, these critiques of Petey are almost the exact same ones made towards the Twins in 2000 - 2005. -

I wonder if he'll finally get Petey some help. He finally admitted (kind of) that his linemates aren't of much help right now. -

Nah, he literally sounds like that all the time in front of media. He hates media. But at most, yes, maybe a little down because of his play, but at least he owned up to it publicly today. -

I didn't know Petey had such a hate for Farhan Lalji hahaha -

Agree. No excuses for this loss, but still proud of the team making it this far. Tocchet seemed visibly frustrated in his presser and explicitly called out some guys. Hopefully that lights a fire. -

I don't know what game you're watching. Hughes has been keeping offensive zone time alive countless times with his ability to walk the blue line. -

Lol so many people literally said the same thing about Miller. ...and Boeser Y'all need to settle down. Canucks playing with house money after winning a round. No one expected them to get this far. -
