  1. Yes, just because a team is located in Canada, why does that mean I should cheer for it? That thinking has never made sense to me. If say Montreal wins a cup, that means the same to me as if Seattle wins. Neither are the Canucks.
  2. The turn around in the team has been amazing. Well deserved - congrats!
  3. It is also interesting how people's perceptions changed for some of these players in the playoffs. Myers in particular was a source of almost universal frustration in the regular season. Lindholm seemed to be on the fence. Their playoffs performances really were stellar in comparison. I doubt that management will only look at that when making these decisions. It is such a complex interplay of cap, chemistry, what other teams want etc., I gave up ages ago trying to predict off season moves.
  4. And as always, the reality is that they are going to have to give up something in any move (unless they are just unloading). There will undoubtedly be some popular players not returning next year.
  5. True, but knowing that plays won't die on the stick of his linemate will help a lot with that.
  6. Getting Petey more suitable line mates has to be a huge priority for the team. If so, he has such huge potential.
  7. somewhere around 48-52 seems reasonable
  8. Hopefully they remember this for this time next year and have learned how to push through.
  9. Hopefully the lesson has been learned by the players too - this is what it takes to be successful in the playoffs. Playing that level all the time isn't sustainable, but they can really be dangerous when they play that way but can't wait until it is almost beyond hope to start.
  10. Consistency over multiple years, team leading playoff performances, etc. I think he is a huge piece and should be critical over the next couple years or so. He hasn't fully realised those yet, though.
  11. True - they are putting a lot of $$ towards him based largely on potential. If I remember right (always a question) the Sedins had to prove themselves before they got a big pay day.
  12. I recall a lot of similar comments about a certain set of Twins early in their career. I think it is way too early to be writing off Petey.
  13. They really do need another top winger. I don't see why they'd keep Mikheyev but I don't know who would want him. If it were up to me, I'd let Hronek go and use the money for other re-signings.
  14. As much as there is a lot to question about Petey over the last several months, having a strong winger capable of passing and scoring reliably will be huge for him.
  15. I though Meyers redeemed himself during the playoffs so unless he is part of a package, might be worth keeping. Priority has to be getting a player to complement Petey. This would elevate him and potentially solve some of the massive power play issues. Easier said than done so will be an interesting off season.
  16. Thanks everyone - see you in the off season threads. Its been a great run and next year is going to be awesome.
  17. Yeah, no matter how successful they might be, they are the kind of team I can't ever have respect for.
  18. Yeah, who cares what country the team is in? Its about your team and your team only. Seasons end with either the Canucks winning the cup or not. We've been waiting a very long time - the core of this team is giving me a lot of hope for the next couple of years or so.
  19. Not lately. He may need a line mate that does to be the difference maker we need him to be.
  20. Those couple guys really make the difference. Its amazing in this era, how much impact first round picks can have for a team.
  21. Canucks are a really good team but are missing a couple things and look utterly out of gas.
