  1. I think it was unfortunate circumstances and although I hate to admit it I do agree Soucy deserved a 1 game. Imagine trying to dispute that in the hearing: "Hello Soucy what's ur defense for cross checking McDavid??' "Well he slashed my leg. Just unfortunate my big Z cross checked at the same time accidentally on purpose." Like there's no defense. Sorry my other guy hit him at the same time? I agree it was lucky / coincidence but that doesn't excuse it. NOW THE REAL ISSUE: McDavid high stick on Hughes, PETTERSON head first into the boards, Kane slew footing Kane launching his leg down on Zadorov (slow it down. I think it was intentional.) Hymen cross checking Zadorov in the face (requiring stitches per Tocchet who's widely respected for fair play and wouldn't bs that.) Hoglander speared in the nutsack Bennett who sucker punched Marchand (tbh Marchand is such a dirty player as much as I hate to see any player injured I won't lose sleep over Marchand ) The list just goes on and on. But Soucy? Clean record, accidental at best, no injury that's physically visible, heat of the moment suspended 1 game. I guess spearing in the nuts, ON PURPOSE, is a "hockey play". I think Canucks fans have every right to be angry. Even if it is one game, with the NHL logic Hymen and Kane should both have 1 game too at minimum. ....the sad part is the NHL probably also knows if they suspend Hymen then Ian Cole / Draisaital are tied in 'Goals For'
  2. I'm reserving judgement on future Petey until we see him with a more experienced winger. Hoglander will fill that in another couple years but until then Petey is off by inches. His shot was literally 2cm from going into the net. His empty net miss x2 are the same. He's so close to having 4+ goals just not quite there. He looked way more confident today doing dangles and skating. You can tell he IS starting to show emotion. And yesterday was a CLEAR upgrade from games 1-4. So yes if slow Petey is going to steadily ramp up I'm ok with it. Honestly I chalk yesterday's loss to the hockey gods. We had no business winning game 4. That was the hockey gods way of saying "we gave u a freebie. It's disrespectful to play 5 minutes of hockey." We take it in game 6 and I have a feeling it's gonna be a blowout.
  3. I hope the crowd can help Petterson get into the game and maybe give him some motivational chants. I feel like the guy really needs it.
  4. Does anybody have a live reaction of Rogers Arena??? I would love to see the live reactions of goals 2, 3 and the OT winner if anybody has the clips. I'm surprised they didn't show them live. Clips like that seeing the towels and the crowd honestly make me tear up.
  5. Lmao I'm so hyped that I could tolerate going to work but... IM NOT GOING TO. I'm definitely taking a mental stress day. I'm sure everyone understands.
  6. Honestly I love the move by whoever the coach is that said "alright. Zadorov. Go to the front of the net and stay there. Nashville wants a wall? we'll give them a castle ." Miller on his game, Boeser on his game, Lindholm, Myers, Zadorov, Hughes, Garland, Joshua, Cole, Soucy and of course Silvos. The boys showed up even if it was the final 5 minutes. I don't think Hughes has been fantastic BUT he's clearly a hard target and like all Superstars steps up when it's needed most. Alright Petey the team is just waiting on you brother.
  7. I thought I'd post this here since all these fans so doom and gloom about losing ONE SINGLE game just to put your minds at ease! (PS not meaning the fans on here but others on 'X' or word of mouth at work seem to think we're done and doomed cause we lost. Just wanted to clarify) ********** Over the past 36 postseasons (since the 1987 expansion to best-of-seven series), a sweep has resulted in 76 of 540 series, representing 1 in 7 (14%) of all playoff series. *********** 1 in 7 odds so don't stress out! If we go 1-3 to Nashville then you can stress out.
  8. Lace up the skates Salo. Let's see if they still feel the same about blocking shots after a few bombs from him
  9. Petey is trying and he knows he has to perform. When his knees gave out cause he missed the literal empty net I really felt for the guy. He's trying but he's just trying too hard. I feel from interviews and the way he carries himself he's not a loud individual the way Miller is. He's probably in his own head overthinking everything. I really hope Tocchet sits down with him for like 2 hours and just makes him talk about what's going on. Even ask how he's doing. You can tell the coaches told him to shoot more and stop forcing passes but damn. Please support the guy even if he's a detriment right now. You can tell from his body language he really is trying.
  10. Honestly I watched the whole game again and I'm sure there's a stat somewhere. I honestly feel like Nashville barely even touched the puck. Even when they did they barely did anything with it. A lot of our 5 on 5 time felt like a power play. We hemmed them in their zone for so much of the game. All of our lines did. I think a loss is actually good for this team. Winning is easy. Losing is really really hard. Especially for a team that knows what losing is all about (talking about last year) and I don't think any of them want that. Now that they have that loss under their belt I really expect the nerves to calm down. And they won't have 18,000 people cheering for them next game. It'll let them relax a bit hopefully. I also don't blame the loss on desmith. He let out one really bad rebound. Ok sure that's on him. Saros last game also let a really weak shot in on Lindholm game 1. I don't see fans calling for his head either. Is desmith better than Saros or Demko? Absolutely not. But he's what we've got right now and win or lose we do both as a team. Canucks easily could've ran away with that game 7-3.
  11. Sell the team... Just kidding. Petterson obviously nervous. I honestly feel bad for the guy. Clearly trying to pass vs shoot. Had literally an empty net AND a like 60% empty net when Saros came across and he tried the saucer pass. But honestly? It's not funny anymore. Our Powerplay is a problem. Like full crisis. Yeah we played better but we didn't cash out when it counted. Even if we beat Nashville through hockey gods + grit we won't beat other teams with our poop powerplay. Imma need the boys to take their pants off their head asap. GOOD SHOWING FROM THE FANS THO. THAT'S WHAT I LIKE.
  12. Yeah sorry lemme rephrase my thoughts on Zadorov. He doesn't use his body as much as you would expect him to but I don't mind that. In today's league, if he hit any of the guys he'd probably be called for elbowing. Not cause he did, but just that's where his elbow is compared to their head is on most players. But he does stand up for the guys and is willing to fight if needed. He's also good at getting in the players heads / throwing them off. The biggest reason I don't like Myers is he's just a gentle giant. He puts up respectable points but I mean is an absolute monstrosity defensively. Always out of position, makes bad plays, doesn't use his size, takes stupid penalties. I'm not saying he's a bad guy but I would rather have Myers walk away and use his 6 million and put it towards giving a raise to Hronek and Hughes. Mind you Myers hasn't been gone that long but if this is what the team looks like down there 6 mil player, then obviously the contract is way over inflated. What scares me are reports management wants to resign Myers. Unless it's for like 1 or 2 mil a year I just don't understand why. I'm not even gonna bother looking it up but I would stake my virtual pride there's a UFA or prospect that can do what Myers does for less.
  13. I think 7 to 7.5 is fair but if he asked for 8 I mean whatever just don't resign Myers. He's holding 6 million and we look better without Myers than we have all season. Soucy is a major upgrade. Honestly I think our top 4 are Hughes, Hronek, Soucy and Zadorov. I really really really like that Zadorov brings grit to our team and isn't afraid to stand up to guys, play the body but has good hands too. Seriously underrated imo. Somebody also posted a stats page for Hronek and those numbers are very misleading. When ur playing with Hughes all year, ur gonna look good regardless who you are. That's not to say he's a bad player without Hughes, he's just inflated by Hughes (good for him bad for management)
  14. No more negative attitudes plz or I'll be giving you a 2 minute high-gloving penalty.
