Interesting contrast in styles tonight. Time after time: them - controlled entry off the rush, crisp passes, dangerous shot on net, us - dump and chase, Oilers retrieve and flip it out, no shot. Frustrating game to watch.

What is weird is using the trailing player who builds up great speed from our own end and then… dumps it in at the blueline!

Mostly agree but cannot fault our goaltending tonight at all. Also, the slow starts are not really the cause of failure but rather a symptom. I would like to know the cause of these habitual slow starts and then we are really getting at the cause of failure. To me it is a mystery how this became a pattern.

Season opener? Wtf, we’re in the playoffs. Pettersson needs to suck it up, stop sulking and work hard, use the elbows, spear someone in the balls. Do SOMETHING! His press conference disclosed he is not happy with his wingers and that is completely understandable. They suck, especially Mikheyev. Personally I think he would play better if he has a body guard out there. He should be pissed that no one went after Nurse after that clown damn near killed him. That would never happen with the Bruins, Panthers, Rangers. He’s built like Gretzky, weighs about 170 and he needs protection. It’s nuts that the GM & coach have not covered this. We are not built for playoffs - too small, too inoffensive. I don’t think we even have toughness in Abby or elsewhere and that is a big problem.

I hope Juulsen plays to potential but his liability to take penalties is worrying. Especially against Oil. Smash ‘em, but smash ‘em within the rules.

Mikheyev is $4.75 million and is useless except as a 4th line checker who doesn’t hit. Hoglander has been meh. So I hardly think it is “retarded” to blame wingers. Not sure what’s wrong with Petey but he looks depressed. Maybe due to linemates maybe something else. Maybe injury.

I agree with you. Let’s be optimistic. Also, not just 23 goals with Abby, he had 37 assists. 60 points in 60 games in the AHL is not shabby. Plus he is supposed to be responsible defensively. GCG!
