  1. I can't see DeSmith being worth much as a pending UFA and I don't want to move either Demko or Silovs. We likely lose a 1st or 2nd in losing Mikeheyev's contract. Might be worth it if we can re-sign Hronek and Lindholm both with the trade though.
  2. He might. .898 save percentage in the playoffs is just okay though. He performed well for a 3rd string, but in the end, his results were fairly pedestrian. He does have a chance at being backup, but I wouldn't be stunned if the team got a more veteran backup even still. That said, given our prospective cap issues, it makes sense to sign Silovs to a cheap 1-way deal to save cap and use him as the backup.
  3. Blossoming? He's been there for years.
  4. I had a dream that the Canucks beat the Oilers in game six and were playing the Flyers in game 1 of the Conference final and won. On the other side of the west, the Ducks lost, so we didn't end up facing them. I didn't question it and neither should you.
  5. There's no controversy IMO. Silovs will be cheaper than DeSmith, is younger, and is probably at least as good. He's the backup next year. I think it would be madness to trade Demko. Vezina-calibre goaltenders don't grow on trees. Ask the Oilers. Silovs is good, but I think at best, he's a 1B level goalie right now. Maybe he develops into a solid starter, but that's betting on a lot to trade a superstar like Demko.
  6. What assets do you think would be required to move Mikheyev?
  7. Ehh...that's a lot to say off one playoff game. Mikheyev has been invisible for half the season and so has Lafferty, but both, especially Lafferty, were big parts of our success early on in the season. It's a question of if they have any of that left in them and if so, could we handle being without that. I still think it's probably the case that we want 7 D. You can maybe get a 7D for league minimum that fits in your plan, though it leaves no wiggle room. This also assumes we actually trade Mikheyev and don't have to pay to lose him (either via buyout or giving up assets to move him).
  8. Definitely significant gaps in F with this proposal with Blueger, Mikeheyev, and Lafferty all gone. Also Juulsen as a 6D is maybe okay, but not ideal for a high end team. Not sure who our 7D would be, but that has to be added to your proposal too. This probably retains our high end, but loses quite a bit of depth, but it's a route to consider.
  9. Lavtia is now full of Canuck fans. Love to see it.
  10. Sure he'll be there for now. We'll see if he stays! Obviously he'll remained "called up" for the remainder of the playoffs.
  11. Probably the biggest game of his career. Nice to see!
  12. Edler at least put up points.
  13. Will be great for them to be in Abby next year. Lekkerimaki could make the team, but I won't count on it just yet.
  14. Sure, McDavid is at no fault at all and the Zadorov hit I think should be considered on it's own. Regardless of what caused McDavid to move immediately prior to the hit he did suddenly move before Soucy hit him, so I think he should be absolved of most guilt. Given that he has a hearing, I expect 1-2 games though. I'll just disagree with the ruling.
