: A Right Shot Puck Moving Defenseman????!?? We still could use one, right? (No pun intended!)

Recommended Posts

Now that we got our man for the top six forward position in Lindholm........

Do y'all still think we could use a puck moving D man? I do.

But is an acquisition of such necessary at this point?

Can we wait till the off season to acquire such?

Whaddya'll think.

Other than Tanev (Who's not really known as a puck moving D man.), and the missed opportunity to keep Bear.....

What are some other names out there that could be had of this ilk?

I am exploring the idea of Rasmus Andersson.

My thinking is in the playoffs you can never enough proven NHL caliber defensemen. Eight sounds like the right number. How to get said D-man is another question.

Z. Bogosian…. mean R shot dman has cup experience

Bigger body… we dont need a “moover”… we need a “Shaker” ;)

sprinkle in a little Pat Maroon and we set

should be able to fit under the cap

I also was thinking of low cost additions for a playoff run and thought of Bogosian and Maroon from the Wild. The Wild will not qualify for the playoffs this year.

Both are on the last year of their contracts.

Both have an AAV under $900,000

Both are big and physical.

Both have been through the grind of a Stanley Cup run, with both players being successful with their team(s).

To acquire both should cost relatively little. Bogosian was (IIRC) traded for a 7th round pick.

Problems with acquiring Zach Bogosian:

-he has a modified No Trade clause (21 teams). Probably all the Canadian teams would be on this list.

-when Soucy is healthy, we have 8 defense men on the roster. What do you do with Juulsen or Friedman? They can't be sent down without clearing waivers.

Problems with acquiring Pat Maroon:

-he has a modified No Trade clause (16 teams). PA could always inquire and see if Maroon is agreeable to come here. We could accommodate him on our roster for this season.

Not as sold on Maroon but Bogosian seems like exactly the kind of depth D the Canucks could be looking at.

Other potential RHD targets I could see: Lyubushkin (BUF), Carrier (NSH), Colin Miller (NJD), Joshua Brown (ARI). A lot of these teams are still in the race so who knows who's available, but could be intriguing targets (all rentals).
