on 650 this am they said that Smith has received 1 billion from the state to add to his contribution and he will be taking on a stadium project but also a project to revitalize the down town core with shops, bars and restaurants around the stadium where the hockey team will play, they were not sure if Jazz will also play there or just stay in their current stadium that was built basketball specific.

having a professional NHL team play in an arena with 4600 capacity is insulting to the league. Sad to see the team go, but not surprising that the NHL made the move

4200 and its bench seating. Most of our CHL rinks are bigger and way better. And even with so few seats the club didn’t sell out. And during Covid, when their rink was closed or at limited capacity, their games on TV would have less than 10,000 viewers. Their ratings got crushed by the Home Shopping Channel. It’s not an nhl market, and never will be.

Utah Badgers?

Utah, Get me two!

The fact the the Coyotes owner didn't even show up for the game.

I hope he takes his billion dollars and we never hear from him again.

And Phoenix gets an expansion team with a real arena, and a real owner.

Still blown away how this just happened after years of crap by all sides trying to save a failed experiment.

Still a fail. You can name multiple other suitors to take the Coyotes that have NHL ready facilities.

Utah will see years of trying to nail down then build their arena. By then the NHL in its insanity will have offered a new expansion opportunity to the Arizona market while probably adding in Atlanta as well.

Will be a 34 team league with more instability in Arizona and Atlanta all over again while Salt Lake tries to build their new rink.

Meanwhile Quebec will continue to be ignored.

Except they currently have a functional arena that has been setup for hockey for a few years and seats 20k while they are building a new arena for them and the Jazz.
