  1. I have no issues with people who were upset over the officiating this game (it was very bad), but I also think fans can't blame the one-sided third period on Sutherland. What I hate the most is people who start accusing posters on this forum of not being fans, just because they're not obsessed about refs. I have never seen her suggest the Canucks need to play better after a loss, ever. It's always the refs. The refs the refs the refs.
  2. Once again implying various longtime users on this forum aren't Canucks fans because they're not obsessively hating on the referees. For the sake of this community, have some class.
  3. The Edmonton Oilers scored 3 even strength goals to Vancouver's 2. Ultimately that made just as much of a difference as the officiating. Can't change the refs. But you can change the score.
  4. What they do after beating us means nothing to me. I just want Vancouver to get through and nothing else.
  5. Maybe he has it out for us, maybe he doesn't. But he has a good reputation. That's the problem - he will definitely officiate more Canucks games as we go further into the playoffs. To that end, he is an invariable. Might as well focus on the things that the Canucks can control - playing their brand of hockey, not their opponent's. Tonight in the third period onwards we played Edmonton hockey.
  6. If they get blasted by DAL/COL, I won't care because they beat us. "They'll be too tired next series" is not an insult to the Oilers. It implies they'll get past us first.
  7. You are both right. We were worried about Sutherland blowing the game, and we were all right. So now what? Because he is a renown referee and will likely officiate another game if this series goes to 7.
  8. It is unsustainable over the course of the entire playoffs but is absolutely sustainable over 5-7 games.
  9. I think you're missing the point about officiating. That is something you cannot manipulate. It's not something teams can strategize for. When Kelly Sutherland was announced for the game, everyone knew he was gonna make/miss some brutal calls. But that's not something the team can really do anything about. A 4-minute PP would've definitely helped carry momentum into the 3rd. But at the end of the day, they only scored 1 goal on the powerplay against us. We got handily outplayed on even strength.
  10. I didn't see what @Gnarcorewrote so I will assume he is Dan Milstein and just went on a full rant about his former client
  11. The last time Draisaitl played injured he fucking torched Calgary in the playoffs. There are few players who somehow managed to perform better while injured... than Leon Draisaitl. But that's okay - our team is better
  12. Not sure why he included Demko to suggest we are better favoured to win the series. On the flip side, EDM now has to deal with two centres who are clearly not 100%
  13. Probably said this a million times by now. The Canucks don't play a man defense. They play zone. Not a single NHL team runs a man defense anymore. Putting a specific player on a specific opponent doesn't work. McDavid doesn't play on one side of the ice. We shut him down because our defenders played well as a unit, not because one guy was tailing him all game.
  14. GM Dubas gets fired for coming out and saying they're running it back too many times New GM... runs it back - doesn't work Head coach fired ????

  16. The Oilers are definitely a more fragile team than Nashville. They absolutely outplayed us the first half of the game. And then when we started to play our brand of hockey (with momentum on our side), Edmonton skaters suddenly looked scared. Defensively, I don't think Edmonton looked that awful even during the second half. They just got way too passive and let Vancouver run the same set plays that cooked them in the beginning of the year.
  17. I think Marner is resigned to his fate. He realizes the situation Toronto is in, as well as him playing like complete shit in the playoffs. He knows he's gone and he expressed his sadness to it. As someone who grew up in Toronto his whole life and got drafted by his hometown club, it must be unsettling for Marner to have to brace himself for a move. That's all I'm saying. Marner is probably going to be moved this summer. And I'm sympathetic to the anxiety he must be feeling.
  18. No he just gets the situation he is in and placed himself in. Marner's a hometown guy who grew up a Leafs fan and now he's about to get chased off the team. I'm sympathetic to an extent to anyone who wants to play for their home team and eventually has to leave, no matter the circumstances. Sometimes it just isn't meant to be. I think this series loss was the final straw for this core. Now it's time to re-tool.
