  1. IF it turns out Petey is not playing with an injury, I would do this 1 for 1- not sure Ottawa would though..
  2. Vancouver, B.C.– Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the club has agreed to terms with forward Vasily Podkolzin on a two-year contract. “We are happy with how hard Vasily has worked on his game to try and become a more consistent player,” said Allvin. “While there is still room for him to grow, starting the year in Abbotsford and working his way back up to Vancouver shows the type of commitment and dedication we want in all our players. Our group looks to forward to helping Vasily continue to improve and get better.” Podkolzin,22, split the 2023.24 season between Vancouver and Abbotsford (AHL), recording two points (0-2-2) and six penalty minutes in 18 games at the NHL level and 28 points (15-13-28) and 15 penalty minutes in 44 AHL games. The 6’1”, 190-pound winger has appeared in 136 career NHL games, all with Vancouver, accumulating 35 points (18-17-35) and 41 penalty minutes. In 72 career AHL games, all spent with Abbotsford, Podkolzin has recorded 46 points (22-24-46) and 27 penalty minutes. He has also appeared in two Calder Cup playoff games with the Canucks, notching a goal and an assist (1-1-2). Prior to his North American career, Podkolzin appeared in 68 regular season games over three seasons with SKA St. Petersburg of the Kontinental Hockey League, registering 19 points (7-12-19) and 22 penalty minutes to go along with 14 points (7-7-14) and 6 penalty minutes in 20 playoff games. A native of Moscow, Russia, Podkolzin has represented his country at three consecutive IIHF World Junior Championships (2019-2021), recording 12 points (3-9-12) in 21 games and capturing two medals (2019 bronze, 2020 silver). He has also served as team captain for Russia on multiple occasions, including the 2021 World Junior Championship and the 2018 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, where he led the tournament in scoring with 11 points (8-3-11) in 5 games enroute to a bronze medal. Podkolzin forward was originally selected by Vancouver in the first round, 10th overall, in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. $1 million x 2 years as per capfriendly - https://www.capfriendly.com/players/vasily-podkolzin

  4. Not forgetting this beauty: In the summer of 2009, Ehrhoff was traded to the Vancouver Canucks on 28 August 2009, along with defenceman Brad Lukowich, in exchange for prospects Patrick White and Daniel Rahimi.
  5. Just wondering your thoughts on what we would be a good equivalent today of one of the best deadline days the Canucks have had, Feb 2011 when we acquired Higgins (for Oberg and a 3rd) and Lapierre (for Perrault and a 3rd)- both becoming important players in the finals run and both re-signed after the season if I remember correctly! Would love to recreate that again... (just for fun, obvs we need a 2nd line C etc) Maxim Lapierre, Chris Higgins added ESPN.com news services Feb 28, 2011, 10:45 PM The Vancouver Canucks, looking to bolster their lineup for what they hope will be a long playoff run, acquired two forwards Monday before the trade deadline. They added Christopher Higgins from the Florida Panthers and Maxim Lapierre from the Anaheim Ducks. This will be Lapierre's third team of the season, having started with the Montreal Canadiens. The Canucks sent defenseman Evan Oberg and a third-round pick in the 2013 draft to Florida for Higgins, who is sidelined for another week to 10 days with a broken thumb. The Canucks also acquired forward prospect MacGregor Sharp from the Ducks, sending them center Joel Perrault and a third-round pick. Entering Monday night's games, the Canucks have the best record in the league (39-15-9). "We feel we made our team a little better today," Canucks general manager Mike Gillis said of the deals. "We feel we have something really unique in that dressing room that we don't want to mess with." Lapierre, 25, will be counted on to settle a fourth line that has used 11 different forwards this season, and often employed wingers out of position in the middle. Drafted 61st overall by Montreal in 2003, Lapierre also has 35 playoff games in five seasons with the Canadiens, where he played for Canucks coach Alain Vigneault. "Alain is completely confident he has a good relationship with him and that he's coachable and that he wants to win," Gillis said. "That was a major reason we made this transaction." Higgins had 11 goals and 23 points in Florida this season. The 27-year-old, who had a career-high 27 goals and 52 points in Montreal in 2007-08, will start alongside Lapierre, a former teammate in Montreal, on the fourth line. But he could push for playing time on the second line, where Mason Raymond has struggled. To clear room on the roster and the salary cap for the two additions, the Canucks sent center Cody Hodgson, the 10th overall pick in 2008, and fourth line winger Victor Oreskovich to Manitoba of the American Hockey League.
  6. Liney McThirdLineFace is the obvious choice!
  7. Not trying to start any rumors or anything but there are currently 2 player jerseys on clearance/sale at https://www.nhlshop.ca/en/vancouver-canucks/sale-items/t-14265374+os-45+z-911548-3659922758 - a bunch of Horvat jerseys for obvious reasons and 3 different types of Elias Pettersson jerseys... seems odd
  8. Don't think it was me you are referring to but I happened to be in Halifax for 2014 and 2015 and my god was Ehlers ever a phenom!! Have watched thousands of hockey games both live and on TV at many different levels and he was still the only player I have ever seen that literally skates circles around opponents, from one side of the ice to the other. Paired with Timo Meier at the time, a goal or assist was almost expected every time he touched the puck! If Canucks scouts watched enough Mooseheads games in 14/15, I honestly have no idea how they wouldn't have drafted Ehlers!
