  1. I'd say he's only expendable under 2 conditions: 1. He asks for way too much money (for me that is $8m+) 2. We have a legitimate backup plan to have another RHD in place that can play 23min a night consistently If #2 is not met, we're asking for trouble. We would have a gaping hole on our blueline that we've been trying to fill for years.
  2. I think you'll be surprised how much Tanev gets. $3M is Ian Cole's cap hit. What steady low event dman do you propose?
  3. Tanev is gonna get much more than $3M. Have you watched him with Dallas? He has completely changed that D core. I'd be absolutely shocked if Dallas doesn't re-sign him for $4.5M to $5M AAV.
  4. So we have Lindholm and Necas... but what would our blueline look like??
  5. And realistically if EVERYONE was firing on all cylinders, we'd probably win the cup. That's what most championship teams are... a team where everyone hits their stride at the right time.
  6. Because great defencemen get paid $8M+. He's not gonna get that because he is a very good all around defenceman that is only 26yo, but not a great one. He is right within the market range if he gets around $7M. Given how his value has dipped recently, I could see him signing a short bridge deal if he is confident in betting on himself. Personally I don't think he has hit his peak yet. So I'd rather sign him long term and reap the benefits of when his value is higher than his cap hit.
  7. I took it really hard too. Still dealing with it this morning. It was the effort level that hit me. Not the loss itself. Plus I hate the Oilers, and particularly hate their super arrogant and obnoxious fans.
  8. We've gone through this a million times. He's 26yo, RHD, eats 23min a night, is physical, is mobile, has good IQ, excellent outlet passer, a solid offensive game overall, stands up for his teammates, etc etc. I really have no idea who you would think could replace that in our top pair. Don't go telling me you will magically convince whichever UFA you want to come here instead of another contender. Unless you can guarantee yourself a replacement, it'd be a terrible decision to move Hronek unless he asks for something like $8M. These kinds of defencemen don't grow on trees.
  9. Our young core is just getting started. In 3 or 4 years they will be a huge force to be reckoned with.
  10. That is the summary right there. Mentally they weren't in it from puck drop. Physically they weren't in it from puck drop. Canucks fans are upset because of the effort. Not the loss.
  11. I commend you for your faith in this team, but man, I did not see this kinda effort coming for game 6. That was brutal. Not sure they could have played much worse.
  12. All I know is I got nothing to say about game 7. I have no idea what kinda team is gonna show up. Going from a dominating performance in game 5 to their worst effort in game 6... who knows what game 7 holds anymore.
  13. Yeah. Losing isn't an issue. It's how hard they play that is. That was a REALLY poor effort for such an important game. NYR, FLA, and DAL have all been to the big show and you saw the effort level in those games against teams fighting for their lives. This is a serious learning experience for this group.
  14. Well, there's the blowout ... too bad it was Edmonton and not Vancouver.
  15. And that's completely fine. I just hate the Oilers. If we were playing Dallas or the Avs right now, I wouldn't be as pissed.
  16. I overestimated this Canucks team's killer instinct and drive. This has gotta be the worst effort of their playoffs this year.
  17. Glad I turned it off once EDM scored the 3rd goal. With only 6 shots in net at more than the halfway point of the game, and down 3-1, it was obvious the Canucks were not mentally prepared for this game at all. Now we just hope they don't come out as nervous wrecks for game 7 and sit back on their asses again. Talk about a let down on what we thought the Canucks would have some killer instinct for once.
  18. We've won shit all playing with integrity for over 50 years. Maybe it's time we approach the game a bit differently.
  19. Considering they're on pace for 13 shots on net and that's with several PPs, it's not gonna happen tonight. Normally I feel optimistic even when they're down, but holy fuck the mental sharpness and physical determination is absolutely atrocious this game.
  20. Everyone except the Canucks on the ice. The effort level speaks a lot louder than words.
  21. That's inexperience IMO. Teams that have gone through this realize how important these games are.
  22. Mentally they weren't in it from the puck drop. Handed a PP early and did not look sharp at all. Sloppy passing plays, second guessing, leaving Oilers wide open in the slot... this is the worst game the Canucks have played these playoffs. I pray for a miracle, but I've turned the game off. Not gonna waste the rest of my night.
  23. This is a lack of playoff experience without a doubt. The teams that have gone through this realize how important it is to slam the door shut when you have a chance. If the Canucks lose this and lose game 7, they'll be taught a very tough lesson where you don't get another shot again until you battle through another 82 games.
  24. 1st playoff game this year that I've turned the game off. There's zero fucking effort from this team tonight. Their heads are absolutely not in this game. Probably looking too far ahead and thinking about Dallas.
