  1. Remember when the question was "Boeser, do we need him?" Phil_314 remembers.
  2. If he's our Spencer Knight (minus the off-ice troubles) or Akira Schmid (minus the regression) we could have quite the strong tandem for years to come. At worst I wonder if he's an Adin Hill/ Logan Thompson type already, probably not the strongest #1 but good enough to start nonetheless behind good defenses.
  3. Only a couple more hours til Game 1 starts, boys!
  4. Ooh Islanders seems like an interesting fit, could definitely be a boost of speed needed by the veteran-laden team. Question is, what pieces would the Leafs want back? The Islanders have so much depth in terms of heavier/ defensive guys (Nelson, Lee, Romanov) but I'm not sure if they have the pieces that would push them over the top when they've already been adding skilled toughness e.g. in Bertuzzi/ Domi.
  5. So their best assets are their core (ROR, Forsberg, Josi, Saros), all of whom likely won't get moved (and we have similar guys in their positions: ROR = Miller, Forsberg = Boeser, Josi = Hughes, Saros = Demko) and their youth, which is led by a young blue-chip goalie. Meanwhile our tandem's likely set in net with Demko and Silovs, so Askarov won't be all that useful to us. That leaves us with getting the likes of Tommy Novak, Luke Evangelista, Jusso Parrsinen, etc. who are adequate NHLers but trading Petey to them could easily improve them by quite a bit (plus several regular players + 1st trades rarely go well for the team getting the pieces unless those pieces are blue-chippers). Easy pass.
  6. Rooting for the Stars 1000% in this series, hope Johnston and the boys can send the cheaters home.
  7. Y'know, Petey's probably going through the same kind of thing that plagued Boeser and Garland last year, and once they fix that you're going to regret trading him. Also don't get why we trade for Lysell and don't even give him a shot but block his way with 3(!) high-priced wingers. Not going to pretend like I know how to quantify the values in the 2nd trade (some say #1 goalies aren't worth much esp. not for blue-chip prospects, but Jersey's also in a bind so they could wish for a bonafide #1 ahead of Allen, but probably not at the cost of trading Nemec, maybe they would rather trade Mercer? Swayman coming in should be an unproven entity that counts as a lateral move at best, and not at the cost of moving Petey so we can re-sign Lindholm after 1 game's success).
  8. I think what's more important is give Petey lesser competition to go up against on PP2. Take him off the top unit for a night, and I'd do something like this: Joshua (let Joshua grind down low to create space) Garland - Boeser - Miller (8 and 9 are mobile creators while 6 and 9 can both shoot the puck well) Hughes Hoglander? (he's shifty and can hustle along the boards) Lindholm - Mikheyev? - Petey (maybe there's better options than Mikheyev but putting 23, 65 and 40 all together can hopefully get them all heated up against lesser PKs) Hronek
  9. They literally need to put the pucks on net. Saros robbed Suter, okay. Petey kept missing and him and Miller were double-clutching. If they put their foot back on the gas and start shooting more often (and send Petey to a sports psychologist) we shouldn't have trouble blowing open the games offensively to give Casey some run support.
  10. IF management pulls the trigger Brady would be the type of player I hope they get, he would've gotten through and given the Predators trouble yesterday. That being said, I hope we don't sell "low" on Petey, as others have mentioned, if he's got the same issue as whatever was plaguing Boeser even though he's getting open, he's just one thing clicking back into place from being his elite dominant self again. You don't trade that.
  11. I look forward to seeing the riot graphic in-game after we lose in Game 7... hope EA put some effort into it
  12. On paper that's what we'll have. Seeing his struggles though, we can't be sure he'll be that guy. Depending on the extent of his injury or whatever the cause of his decline has been, it could affect his ability to rise up to the level that would be expected him given the price tag. Sure upgrading on Blueger would be great, but if there's a viable C like a Henrique who also becomes available but they show more in their playoff run, I'd rather we let Lindholm walk and sign that guy if Lindholm asks for $6-$7 for a 3rd line role.
  13. 3rd line C for $6 million, after a small sample size? He's going to have to take a Klingberg show-me deal in my opinion. We paid to get him in the trade but it doesn't automatically warrant him getting big bucks, even if it means him providing us with valuable depth if his place in our cap structure could screw us up with an underwhelming season.
  14. Unless you're part of Senators management, you don't have any better insight than any of us, until proven otherwise.
  15. It's rare to see a power forward available, especially a young one with term. Would love to see him for Boeser (not sure about moving Petey if our backup plan is to re-sign Lindholm).
