I really think signing Hronek still needs to be a priority. I know a lot of people have soured on him since supposedly rejecting our first offer and his his somewhat lackluster second half and playoffs thus far, but it wasn't that long ago when our right side was absolutely barren and we were desperate to find a RD that could keep up with Hughes. When I see folk suggest trading him for a winger I have to shake my head. I think a relatively short term deal could be beneficial to both sides. Something in the ballpark of 3 years/21 million.

If there was any doubt that we're the good guys in this series...

I think the Preds are the only team that we have a solid chance of beating in round one. Either way, with how the team has played since the Lindholm trade I doubt our playoff run will last long.

I'm not saying we should pencil him into our lineup for next year, but.. .

At the end of the day what really matters is what effect the player has on the team. One can poke as many holes in Hronek's game as they want to try and justify lowballing him, but the fact remains that his impact on our D core has been substantial. Substantial enough to be one of the major contributing factors in turning this team from a bottom 10 team in the league to one of the top 5 overnight. Pay the man ffs.

Toffoli fits this team like a glove. Already has experience playing with Petey and Lindholm.

Between their willingness to trade with us, Kuzmenko being on their team and now this, I'm actually starting to like the Flames.

The nice thing about Rutherford's "strike early" strat is that we still have time to guage the team's performance before the deadline. Ideally we'd be able to land a top/middle 6 forward with some grit and a RD, although I'm comfortable with the team we have right now.
