  1. I think McDavid looks tired, probably from being overplayed. They are loading up one line, Canucks are rolling at least 3 lines that are contributing.
  2. I seem to be using this GIF a lot lately, but it really seems relevant for McDavid, Kane and the Edmonton fans....
  3. The ONLY thing that would make this moment, Boston being eliminated, any better would be if there was an ACTUAL grave that I could go and dance on!!! Not bitter at all.....
  4. I heard they were going off the board and hiring an unknown from the Chinese leagues. Wynn Wan Ho Don't know anything about him personally, but interesting name...
  5. Shhhhhhhhhh....you're going to mess up my deal and scare away the: On Ingram, I offer into evidence the following from CapFriendly: . Its worth noting that Dan Cloutier had a far superior NHL record....
  6. Subsequently, the Leaf's also announced that they have preemptively fired Craig Berebe when it was predetermined he would NOT get the Leaf's past the first round next season. In the same press conference, the Leaf's also announced raises and extensions for the senior management team as well as extensions for Tavares (12 million per season for the next 8 seasons), Marner, 13 million for the next 8 seasons. With their remaining $327.28 in cap space, the Leaf's also unveiled 2 pilons dressed in Leaf's jerseys, to round out their defense for the year. After the press conference, they all ate cake made of what we suspect was likely crystal meth and other suspicious substances. Within an hour of the press conference, liquor stores throughout Ontario were reporting shortages of most alcoholic beverages.
  7. Ingram is NOT Demko, he's a smaller goalie with minimal NHL experience. Utah has the prospects, if they were wanting to make a splash and show that they are ready to compete, starting with a Vezina level goalie is a good way to signal to the team and fans that they want to go hard at making the playoffs immediately. They have the draft and prospect assets to be a playoff competitor next season if they spend some of that capital. New ownership will push them to the cap ceiling on spending to engage and excite fans. Under what I proposed, it would look something like this for us on a 23 man roster with about 2.55 million in space for other upgrades.
  8. Let me ask this, Utah wants to make a big splash and comes to Allvin ahead of the draft with the following offer; To Utah: Demko Mikheyev (nothing retained) 2025 2nd round pick To Vancouver: #6 OA Connor Ingram (backup for Silovs) Maveric Lamoureux (20 year old 6'7" RD prospect) 2024 3rd round pick (Utah's) What would you do? Salary out: 9.750 million Salary in: 1.95 million Salary numbers based on who is realistically going to play next year. Let's say that freed up enough to allow Canucks to retain Joshua, Lindholm, Zadorov and add Tanev as a UFA and enough to resign Hronek as well as do some other upgrades. Thoughts?
  9. Partially my point in moving him this summer. The assets that we get back from a Demko trade would be substantial, especially at his current contract. It could make the Canucks contenders for years to come. Sometimes, building a long term winner takes the right move at the right time. I wasn't really happy about moving Schneider, buy in hindsight, we maximized return on him and we're still feeling the ripple effect of that trade with the pieces we got for moving Horvat. Again, not 100% on moving Demko, but I'm open to it based on cap it would create and other moves it would open us up to.
  10. Agree completely. I voted yes because, there are always good backups around the league and we do have the best goalie coach in the world. Demko's knee scares me a little long term, for me, that might be tipping the scale a little on whether it's time to let him go this summer. His value coming off the season he put up would be significant on the trade market, potentially snagging a top 15 pick as well as another good goalie prospect. A lot will depend on whether Demko comes back and if we go really deep, like to the finals and Silovs is still carrying us. DeSmith is a capable backup as he proved all season and is able to carry the work load when needed.
  11. Is it time to let Silovs take over in net and trade Demko? I'm not completely sold on this from either standpoint. I am a little concerned about Demko's knee after being gone for 6 weeks and then reinjuring the same knee after 3 or 4 games. Demko is signed for another 2 years at 5 million and doesn't have any trade protection. Silovs needs to be resigned this season as a RFA and could probably be signed for about 1 million on a 1 way, 2 year, show me deal, I think this is about where he signs regardless. DeSmith or a similar goalie, we could probably get for about 1.5 to load balance against. That would free up about 3.5 million this summer. Math is (2.5 million Silovs and DeSmith combined vs Demko and Silovs at 6 million combined). So, do you feel confident in Silovs under Clark's guidance to assume starting duties like Demko did after the bubble? When Demko went lights out in the bubble when Markstrom went down, he was more experienced that Silovs, but not that much more. He had played 37 games plus the 4 in the bubble before Markstrom walked and we anointed him the new Messiah of Vancouver goaltending. Silovs has shown that he can play in the NHL and handle the pressure and he was MVP at the Worlds last year for Latvia posting .921 across 10 games for them. If we were to do this, does that free up enough to resign Lindholm, Zadorov, Hronekand Joshua as well as make some other upgrades? If we went to Utah and offered him there, I'm sure they want to make a splash this summer and they are loaded with picks and high end talent, what would they offer up for a Vezina nominated starter on a really team friendly contract? Again, not 100% sold on either option, but I'm curious what everyone else thinks. I'm sure other fans have thought about this and like the title of the thread says, EVERYONE in Vancouver LOVES a Goaltending controversy....
  12. This team performed so much better last night with; #1. Pettersson actually looked engaged and interested in being a part of a playoff team. He wasn't perfect, but he looked focused, was shooting and making plays #2. Hoglander benefitted from a couple of games of watching from the Press box, it reset his game. He was driving the play again in the corners and in front of the net. #3. Mikheyev sitting in exchange for Podkolzin. Podkolzin was a force out there and added another physical dimension to our overall game. Overall, the team played like a contender last night for maybe the first time in about 30 to 40 games. They forced the play in all areas including penalty kill. When was the last time that Edmonton went 0 for 5 on the powerplay? Now, if we could just fix Cole....
  13. So, we definitely need to fund a way to unload Mikheyev this summer, we were far more effective with him out and Podkolzin in.
  14. Pettersson only had the one point, but that was the most engaged I've seen him in the playoffs so far. He was shooting, he was physical, he was skating and passing and making plays. Overall, probably the best overall team effort since the start of playoffs as well.
  15. I don't have time to go back through replays and look at different plays, but if you think that his play is helping us in any way right now, would love to see examples of that. In terms of evidence of play, let's simply look at in the post season, there are 3 guys who are minus players as per NHL stats. Mikheyev - 4 Hoglander - 2 Pettersson - 2 Even Juulsen and Cole are +1 If you think Pettersson has been anything other than weak on the puck and is missing about 3 gears that we know he's capable of, then I think you're watching a different player than the rest of us. My point of concern is, he went through this at the start of last year as well, he couldn't make plays, couldn't score and he managed to get himself turned around and start playing again. I don't know if it's a physical issue or a mental issue, but this is not the guy that we saw in the bubble or the guy who played the first 20 or 25 games of this season. Something is off. When he's on his game, we all know and have seen what he can do. When he plays with Miller and Boeser, I haven't seen him being effective in the last 40 or so games of the season, plus the playoffs. Anyone else want to chime in on this? I'm not trying to be overly hard on him, I'm just saying that something isn't right and everyone in the media sees it too. Here's the clip from Boudreau from earlier today:
  16. You know, I think this might be at a stage with Pettersson where they seriously need to sit him down and ask him if they need to sit him for a game. If this is physical, then maybe he needs rest. If this is psychological, then maybe a night in the press box watching, might give him some perspective? I really don't know what would snap him out of this. If this was just that he isn't producing but was playing well defensively and is creating loose pucks in the offensive zone then that would be something, but his play is leading directly to opposition goals as well. At the moment, as much as I love what he is capable of, he's a liability on the ice every night. I have no question about what he's capable of, but I'm getting concerned about his mental toughness over the long term. We saw what he did at the start of this season and even in the bubble. This is NOT the same player!

  18. Was talking about this earlier, Juulsen sometimes goes looking for the hit and takes himself out of position. Needs to wait for opportunities to hit, not go hunting.
